Have you checked PoE Ninja? For stats on what's being played in the various leagues it's hard to beat.

And while not all SC builds are played in HC for obvious reasons, most builds played in HC are also found in SC. The HC variations are just more ... HC.

Interesting question is, whether there actually are players reaching any significant level (say, 90+), that do not use logout macro?

I have a hard time understanding the point of playing HC and using the logout macro at the same time, other than the occasional SC bashing.

And yes, I've heard all about "but I use it only for lag/crash situations, would not ever ever ever use it for unfortunate 1-shots and blunders, scouts honor!" and similar excuses multiple times already.

A logout macro for HC turns the game into a test of your reflexes against not-quite-one-shot mechanics. I'm too old for the reflexes.

But, yes, I did just level a toon to 90 in SSFHC. No macro or even manual logout. It was worth doing once for kicks but I don't think I would do it again.

And to clarify for the OP, HC trade and HC SSF are pretty similar. The availability and cost of items in HC means that you should assume it's going to be a mainly SSF experience, even if you go trade.

On a max block character, for example, it won't be easy to get that 5% life on block shield that's a no brainer in SC trade. Same for many jewels. Of course you can grind if that's your thing, but I can't imagine anything less fun than grinding in HC. That's just me - YMMV.

Of my current stable i've only had to logout once this league (the menu > exit game variety) and that was on cortex boss because i'd never done it before, dude was sucking all the pylons in and i didn't know what to do about it lmao.

Frankly if you stay within yourself its very comfortable to get past 90 without any kind of logout, the faster/more aggressive you push though the worse you'll fare.

That aside really I agree with you, I personally can't understand why you'd play HC then use a macro. Dying and losing your guy with all the feelsbadman that goes with it is part of the experience. Obviously in competition other competitors using it kinda forces you to do so but i don't compete so *shrug*

Sad but true lol. You can play trade but you are actually SSF against your will.

This is it. If you stay in your comfort zone and don't try things you haven't done on SC, it's totally doable. You need to understand the content mechanics and what your build can handle. The more you push beyond, the more likely an early demise.

Actually, discussion in this thread is quite civilized and polite, no trolls and/or hysterics so far, other than that random wtf from you quoted above.

tbh i think the problem is that OP wants something that doesn't exist, very few of us play trade HC its a quiet league where I buy 50% of my items off the same group of players.

HCSSF kinda cannibalized most of the players and frankly i'd play there too if I didn't have a couple of friends I occasionally group with to get my characters killed.
