Looking to upgrade for a 4K Gaming rig, Need advices.
Hello,
I am currently running 4K in DSR Nvidia, upgraded from a native 1440P Resolution. It looks amazing and vacation yearly income is coming in june, so i got a bugdet to make a new rig, this one is defenitly fine but getting old. Current setup : I7 7770K GTX 1080 TI 16GB Ram Screen : Acer Predator XB271HU 1440P 165Hz G-Sync. (I'd like to keep this one, back then he cost me a kidney to purchase..) ----------------------- So i have been looking at the gaming rig, and there is a huge gap between the 3060 RTX and the 3080 RTX in terms of price tag. I am not good enough to judge that by myself, and i can't get help from that store because they ain't playing path of exile. We all know that when a lot of effect appear, no matter the rig, fps drop follow.. What do you guys think? Do you think a config like that would be good? I want a config that can handle easy 4K, above 60 fps no matter what happend, 144fps constant is the ideal. I'd put my eyes on that config so far : Intel Core i7-10700K (3.8 GHz / 5.1 GHz) MSI MPG Z490 GAMING PLUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12 Go SSD NVMe 480 Go Thanks. Last bumped on Apr 11, 2021, 7:35:55 AM

Just to note that your rig won't be able to take full advantage of this game until PoE2 in 2022 when they update the engine. Have a good one.
What is the value of my own life when it is taken from others so easily?

I would get the AMD 5800x CPU

So it begs the question, if you are not upgrading the monitor what's the point?
It's 1440p not 4k and you would be wasting energy rendering in 4k only for it to be downscaled anyway. I'd be checking out upgrade paths for the CPU if you can get any, a new 4k monitor and i would go for a 3070 (assuming they are not getting scalped) Ancestral Bond. If you rich enough. Graphic card first. 1000 series never able to run 4k
But i guess you can save money to buy CPU + RAM + MB + SSD and then it still cheaper for a 3070 card This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee. About the username: Did you know Kowloon Gundam is made in Neo Hong Kong?

What's your budget and where do you live what Country. If money is not the problem just go for the best Graphic Card available at the time.

If you have 1440p monitor then its impossible to play in 4k making the upgrade pointless.

Hello, thanks for your answers.
In short, money is an issue above a certain amount. I will get 2500€ in June, i can save and add some to it, but i'd prefer not to. For the monitor, i was thinking about going for DSR Nvidia, cause if i have to buy a monitor that handle the 144fps+, i'm down to spend 5000€ in total.. Maybe i am wrong but refresh rate is super important, and without it, above 60fps you don't see any difference right? |

Yes refresh rate is important, it makes games smoother. But honestly? I dont see difference between 1440p and DSR 4k downascaled. Like at all. But i have only 24inch monitor, maybe its different when you have like 32+ inch one.

"Hey there, generally speaking that config is decent, good price/performance value, but you won't get to experience a constant 2160p144hz with it. That being said not even a RTX 3090 or RX 6900 XT will guarantee constant results in that ballpark, unless the game in question offers a good implementation of dlss 2.X which is exclusive to nvidia. 1440p144hz is a different story. You already have a decent 1440p monitor with gsync capabilities so upgrading there is not necessary. If you enjoy DSR then stick with that. If you however toy with the idea of selling your old monitor for a real 2160p144hz unit I highly recommend checking out the LG 27GN950. Another one in that ballpark would be the Acer Predator XB273K. Both are amazing 2160p144hz monitors and would fuel your future rig for years to come. That is, however, if you go for an RTX 3070 minimum (the 2080ti equivalent) because outside of Path of Exile, the RTX 3060 won't push high frames in that many other games. Not on 2160p atleast, 1440p is fine. As for your rig, depending on where you live, compare current prices to that of the amd counterparts. An Ryzen 5 5600X paired with an B550 motherboard (even b450, if you don't need newest PCIE 4.0 stuff) is a good alternative for gaming. If you just do that, gaming, and nothing else (streaming, video editing, machine learning et cetera) then don't bother with 5800X oder similar recommendations. Ideally you'd want to pair a Ryzen with 3600MHz CL16 ram but if it saves a dollar or two, 3200MHz is fine. Last edited by Ulsarek#7159 on Apr 11, 2021, 6:32:17 AM
