SHOP PRICES are absurdly over the top.

While I do feel they would probably get more income selling cheaper. Much of PoE's players are long term fans. GGG knows their audience and keeps their audience.

Many F2P games lose track of their audience or just stop caring about keeping them thus use quick and cheap methods to grab a few bucks. It's the "Come in buy and get out method".

I didn't spend a dime on this game 2013 - 2015 but I'm glad others did because though I found it a questionable investment the results were I could see the money going back into the game.

So now they have my trust and I don't mind buying packs to support the game.

It works. It it didn't they would have changed it ages ago. I don't like it by the way but on the other hand most skins (except for some skill animation changes) look fairly ugly to me.
Weird answering this cause I agree and disagree.

I think it would have done them some good (literally for them, not for us, since they'd have sold more) lowering prices during this whole Corona fuckfest the world is living. I myself have felt really tempted to buy a quad tab since I have finally become more active in trade this league, but I have held myself, because my buying power has been cut to almost a quarter of what it used to be before Corona hit.

I know I am in an unique situation but if I tell you guys I used to make most of my money as a photographer on parties and events you can guess why my lifestyle took a nuke to the face with Teh Varus™, so I have held myself from doing any purchases until my life is better sorted out.

On the other hand, it is all either convenience or 100% cosmetic purchases, so honestly GGG could raise the price of MTX's 10fold and I wouldn't really care about it. It is not mandatory, so they might as well set any price they want, wanna sell a lightsaber FX for a thousand dollars? Go for it, someone is sure to buy it.

I just feel, as someone who is purposefully not a paying costumer right now because the prices stayed the same, that they might have gotten a better revenue with a price dip this past year. Then again they might just have finance guys who thought of this and decided against it, they probably know more about it than me. Just my 2c.

The shop prices are calibrated toward two types of poeple:

- Rich idiots with more money than they need.
- Vulnerable people prone to addictions (same targets that gambling goes after).

If you're not in either group, just buy what you want and ignore the rest. It's not needed.

Also people that want to support the game. Without that incentive the game would never have made it to today.

You're talking about the shaper scorching ray mtx right. That thing is 10/10.
I said the same thing when I went into the Ferrari dealership.
You could buy a lot of other games for the price of MTX here. But you can also play a lot of other games in the time it takes for you to finish playing Path of Exile.

How long would you play a free game for before you felt guilty about not even tossing them a tip?
Can we please come together as a community and agree not to bother making any complaint threads where a contextually proper answer is "so don't do it then?" Because this is like recursive entitlement, where OP is whining about optional baubles in a F2P game being too expensive to pique OP's interest.

DON'T BUY THEM THEN.

There's literally nothing forcing you to buy cosmetic MTX which you perceive to be overpriced.

Why would a person even make this thread? Do you really have nothing better to whine about? At least the thousand Why Nerf Harvest threads were coming from a coherent point of view where they lost something which affected them in some way, good god.
They are expensive...
They are entirely optional.
I have never felt further from what I know and love
Btw, just to reiterate in case op might have missed it, if you do the challenges in temp league, you can get free mtx rewards. Accumulate for a few leagues and you can be a fashionista for cheap?
