Echo's of the atlas statistics would be juicy !

With all the back me forth over harvest I for one would be really interested in the amount of players who unlocked uncharted realms.

Given the amount of voices in the community with such huge difference of opinions as to what the "average" player is in path of exile this would be quite informative.

I find it somewhat difficult to believe with today's resources and guides available that %90 of people never make it to maps these days.

Thoughts ?

I mean you realize 95% of games dont require guides or special build calculators, etc?

The average video game player comes to poe and the advice is
-Download this build calculator
-Use these trade strategies
-Read this 2000 word build guide
-copy a veteran players build, while learning how to game the market, ignore your own ingenuity
-Ignore crafting because it is awful until you spend dozens of exalts, instead spend time messaging people who mostly ignore you because buying gear is far more efficient

Its a miracle any new players actually stay with it.

But if you do enjoy the game it's not really that much... Compared to wow add-ons, builds guides and simming gear every time you get a new piece ..

Also some people have fun without all that which is what PoE survives on.

PoE doesn't require anything but some patience.
Playing until you can't get further and then asking/looking for help is the basic of gaming no matter what game or year we're talking about.

Ive never played another game where you help or build guides.

They exist for Grim Dawn and Diablo series but you dont need them to complete all content quite easily Id say.

What other games are you thinking of?

They also exist for MMOs but even then, there is more customization and again you dont really need them.
you only need guides if your perspective as a new player is i want to do everything in the game in the shortest possible time

That basically applies to any game and as games have developed with the internet pretty much anything that can have builds will now have a build site dedicated to it (usually made by talented third party as always)

100% concur. I have been playing since 2013, you had to do all of that back then. It took me a long time to figure out to copy a meta build or rip. It's gotten worse.

The fact that your first build fails by default, is part of the reason why most players stay. In other games you have it all figured out in 2-3 weeks, then move on. PoE is a bit more complex.

At least you don't need great skill that develop over years, like in RTS and MOBAs. If you follow a good guide, should be able to complete most of the content.
