In what direction to dig, in general?

Just (mainly) down?
Down 1 level, then from that a looooong left and a loooong right dig?
(It seems that I could dig left (or right) infinitely.. So at some point I have to stop..)

I experience that I never will have "enough" suplhite. Never will explore the "whole" mine..

There are e few reasons to do the mine...

Vorici recipes for sockets, links, and colors. Most of these are not deep, but they're in specific node types.

Leveling option to maps. You need to be at the right level to get the experience you're looking for.

Bosses. There are a few, and they are a bit deeper. For the challenge.

Deep delving. This is a whole thing in itself with no particular purpose other than the challenge.

Farming fossils. Someone else will have to tell you the sweet spot in terms of depth. I don't do this.

In general, you mostly go deeper. If you get to a point where you're struggling, go up a bit and then sideways. This applies especially when using the mine to level. Also watch the mods on the areas; some are more dangerous than others, especially deeper.

And yes, you will never have enough sulphite and the mine isn't meant to be fully explored.
