Shocking Conflux

I am playing essence drain/contagion/vaal blight I have this helmet wanted to craft suffix "Nearby Enemies have -9 to chaos resistance" so after ~20ex spent remove/add chaos (always get chaos ressistance) i just removed chaos and augment influence mod risking 20%chance to craft it. Failed, hit "You have Shocking conflux for 3 sec every 8 sec".
My question is does my build benefit from this mod or is it useless?

Well kinda.

Shocking conflux means all types of damage can shock an enemy.
So your initial hit of essence drain can indeed inflict shock.

It is worth noting, that essence drain has two seperate effect. It has a hit initially which deals chaos damage. The chaos damage over time is a seperate effect.

Shock by conflux can only be applied on hit.
Vaal blight and contagion have no hits, so they cant apply shock, neither can the essence drain dot. The only source would be the initial hit of essence drain.

Since you are probably not focussed on scaling essence drains initial hit, your total damage for the shock to be applied would be pretty low.

This would mean, that the shock effect which will be applied to the enemy is very low. Minimum shock effect is according to wiki 5%. You probably will not exeed this value against enemies with a decent health pool with essence drain.

Also that shock would only last 2 seconds and you would have to cast essence drain within that 3 second time frame to apply the shock.

So you kinda benefit from it, but it is not much and not worth going for.
