Thx @Turtledove to perfectly sum up my first reaction about that post <3

And @Rakushi, apparently I did hit a nerv. I just stated my feelings.

To keep it short but still giving something to further explain:
If its enough for you, in regards of, trading, lore introduction, QoL, Game Evolution etc, than thats awesome! And I do indeed envy you to enjoy the game as it is to such a big degree!
Sadly im not nearly there.
For me, its not enough. Not even close (anymore actually). The amount of time passed and the lack of improvment (and abundance of decline of it with outdated mindsets and actions) just kills the game for me.

If that offends you in any way, im sorry, but thats how I feel.
No hard feelings from my side.

Cheers

Oh no, you haven't hit a nerve for me at all :D But some things are quite baffling to me or seemed short-sighted / ignorant to me :D

Especially the whole part where Sirius isn't introduced into the lore and just "randomly appears". He does, but the game doesn't "spoon-feed" it to you right away :D This and a few others that I've mentioned prior !

But then again, we also play the game entirely differently :D What I truly love about it, the thrill of risk and potential death around every corner, is what you actively despise, so we were bound to not agree fully! Thanks for the objective share though! Mostly :D

Edit: JUST in case you were interested in Sirius and the lore, here are a few links to the wiki from knowledge direclty from the game, and a "short" summary in video form!

https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Sirus%27_Journals
- Sirius talking about himself (Also all the other guys' journals that also mention him can be found below)

Good video on lore aspects :D

Im happy about your ton in that response =3

What I so dislike about sirus lore is this "ah here, a villain!". First there where no note after killing the Conquerers, those got added in later. And then still feeled like a sidethought as to have an excuse of an introduction.

Compare this to Shaper or Elder, its just not comparable.
I remember to this day the first trailer I saw of Shaper roaming in those time frozen areas around. And the feeling of the first few times I encountered him later in my plays. Goosebumps!
But Sirus is just there out of a sudden. The current lore around im feels still like patchwork.
The fight beeing what it is kinda sealed the deal I guess. =/

About leech. Im just scratching my head why a rather easy mechanic in a game (on of 100s) is so complicated descriebed.
And that stuff like the Minions not following you is the key phrase. Sure, thats really in the detail. But would it kill to add one line of text to clearify that ingame? Thats what grinds my gears there.
And those details can come around and bite one in the arse when they sounds like "this should work!" but then doesnt. From global to local to "is this an aura?".

Its detailed, yes! But in a needlessly confusing way.^^

Cheers =)

Edit.: Thanks for the links! Noodles videos about the lore are indeed amazing!

While I agree with some of what you replied, this is just wrong. I die almost exclusively to one-shots these days.

Take today:
I ran a juiced T15 with twinned boss. All OK, my first-ever summoner is crazy tanky: 7k life, overcapped resis, sand stance, bone offering up most of the time, same for bone armour, many many meatshields. Because these meatshields do my work for me, I have ample time to look carefully what is going in. Bosses died without a fuss.

No problems until I encounter a rogue metamorph. He's still pretty far away from me, but I simply die. Now, I've reached the level I wanted to, so I go back in to see what is going on. And die 5 more times. Once after dying I do see a very faint ground effect AFTER I'm dead. There was absolutely and definitely no cue beforehand. And even if that cue had been shown, it was almost invisible. With the gfx vomit most other builds seem to have, there is no way anyone would see it even if it did actually display in time.

My guess: One of the many bugs in tencent's code makes the effect render too late. I really went in to see what it is, paying close attention, maybe learn how to recognize/counter it. Nope, not possible. Just inexplicable 7k-0 in an instant.

PoE is the only ARPG where death is meaningless, because you regularly cannot avoid it as it happens randomly and instantly.
PoE is also the only ARPG where loot is tedious rather than exciting, but that's a different topic.

Oh well, chalk it up to "waiting till something better comes along"

If you are running a juiced map and ALSO a metamorph, take into account that "thing" always has a lot more damage than anything else on TOP of the mods xD

but this is where "Most" comes into account. Metamorph is still BS in that regard :D Volatile crawlers being one of them :D

I don't know about death being meaningless when you play hardcore ;D But that's a different topic and a clash of opinions anyway :D

I know, which is why I only do really evil shit after dinging a level or reaching my league goal. I expect to die occasionally.

But I really, really hate dying to invisible shit. And I also believe the game design sucks dead bunnies through a bent straw if your health globe is basically binary. Too many damage multipliers in this game, for both players and monsters. I wonder if PoE2 will degenerate the same way after a few expansions.
