Dying for caustic mana flask with a CI build does not make sense
Just lost my lvl 59 Shadow at Hardcore because I used a Caustic flask and I thought it would follow the Energy Shield line of thinking that says:"Energy shield acts as an additional hit point pool on top of life. If you have any energy shield remaining when you take damage, the damage is subtracted from the energy shield first. Damage is only applied to life once all energy shield is depleted. The exception to this is chaos damage, which ignores energy shield."
By following that line of thinking I got myself killed. According to the description above I can only take chaos damage if I don't have the Chaos Innoculation skill, what should, in my opinion, be rewritten, as I took a direct life damage even with my ES full (3.2k) and the CI node. I would like to hear you guys opinion and thoughts about the matter. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

When I said: "According to the description above I can only take chaos damage if I don't have the Chaos Innoculation skill", I meant to include any direct damage to health.

WARNING
The keystone Blood Magic will instantly kill a CI player when he/she casts any spell. This also applies to skills supported by Blood Magic. Mana potions can have the Caustic mod that removes life on use (+60% mana recovered. Removes 15% from life.) This will also kill you. from the wiki |

Then you could say that the information is conflicting?

GGG likes having very exact wording, and if X does not work the same as Y, they will have different descriptions. The Flask description mentions it removes Life. It simply reduces the amount of Life you currently have, which is a different mechanic from taking Damage. Hence, 'remove Life' versus 'take Damage'.
