Hydrosphere Bad With Arc for Single Target?

I'm leveling an Assassin atm with Arc + Hydrosphere to try something different since I've seen several people make good use of this new skill. However, I'm wondering now if I am gimping myself on some Arc dmg while doing bosses?

Arc says it does 15% more dmg/remaining chain but would HS be eating up one of the leftover chains? Arc can also bounce back and forth between the same target too, iirc? So maybe the sphere is eating up most of the chains on bosses?

Trying to find out an exact answer on this but no luck yet.
Maybe it's better to just stick to Orb of Storms or Storm Brand with my Hextouch support setup. I'm not even sure which of those 3 is the strongest but I love the utility of HS.

Maybe can try hitting the boss and let it bounce to the Hydrosphere , that way you get full damage on boss.

That would still be eating up one of Arc's chains though?

On that note actually, I am confused too because the wiki for HS says that you can chain Arc off it but chains will not chain off mobs to HS. However, I swear I still see my Arc hitting the sphere while I am targeting the mob, so Idk anymore. Maybe HS has a bigger hit box than I think.
Unless the boss has a lot of minions around the arc wont hit the boss more then once per cast

I think it's likely that's the damage is calculated based on remaining chains, not unused, so the first target will take full x more damage regardless.
Technically speaking, how can the server know the real number of chain left at the moment arc hit the first target, surely they cannot wait until Arc finish, so the only solution is give full damage on first target.

Arc not only chain, they also fork (on each chain, but fork cannot chain further), that's probably the fork that hit the sphere.

The wiki for Arc says that Arc cannot fork (since it's not a projectile) so not sure what I am seeing. But the wiki also says it can fork with 4+ enemies so it's strange.
Going to try testing it further on bosses with more life.
