Herald of purity sentinels and Spiders: Summoning methods
Hello everyone,
here is my dilemma: I need kills from my Herald of Purity Sentinels to summon Spiders from Arakaali's Fang unique. Without my Sentinels beeing aggressive, almost all kills are done by my Spiders (cause they are just to fast and aggressive lol). So I think there are 3 possibilities: (1) Feeding Frenzy Support for HoP: Sentinels are now also killing stuff, so they are able to summon spides for me. The problem is that my Sentinels lose approx. 35% Damage (that hurts a lot). (2) Maw of Mischief Helmet to make all Minions aggressive: Also works, but I loose the great opportunity to make my Support Minions (Spectres and Animate Guardian) very beefy with an "+Minion Life + 2/3 Lvl of Minion Gems" Helmet. I am not sure if my Support Minions will survive endgame content without the support helmet (Do you think my Support Minions will survive Endgame content without it?). (3) Using Speakers Wraith helmet, so that all kills are count towards my char so that I can summon Spiders an Sentinels. Works, but same problem like for (2). So I want to use the "swarm intelligence" from this great forum ;). May someone have an idea? Am I missing another possibility? Many thanks! Last bumped on Mar 3, 2021, 1:10:04 PM

i think you're at the point where you have to decide for your minions which you want to give up in order for the other, diluting a character with too many minions can leave you socket and buff starved(always been the way of summoners in general though tbh).
Maw and speakers are quite very specific job role type items which you kinda have to commit to the mechanics of, they do synergise well with spids and HoP BUT that comes at one of the costs you've mentioned, you could get around this with "Whakatutuki o Matua" perhaps with an interesting corrupt and empower etc, or a hungry loop ring, but again these compromises come at a cost. General rule of thumb i've found and seen when it comes to minion builds that are successful and do higher end content is focus on one minion type and the class/build that benefits them greatest, secondly either add in one and maybe two support types at most that also benefit this choice OR leave room for buffs and/or your own survivability, when you have the first two sorted then you can consider shoehorning in other stuff. personally i think if you're going with spids+HoP then speakers with ele focus/zero fire on minions as your best route, just don't forget corpses and probably a worm flask for bosses, then make the choice between support minions(probably stronger option but risk of loss) or a few buff/defence auras(likely weaker option but more fire and forget so lower management). it also depends if the build is "serious" or "meme", there's a lot of diverse guides out there so maybe pick a minion, google/reddit search builds around that and see what tickles your overlord fancy :D |

Thank you very much for your very helpful answer! I would like to avoid the necessity to choose either Spiders or HoP, since the mechanic of HoP-kills are (somehow) casting spiders is just to nice. "Whakatutuki o Matua" is a nice idea but my defensive concept is heavily relying on endurance charges that are generated via Enduring Cry/Redblade banner combo. Maybe I will just try all three mentioned possibilities and see what works best. However, I fear that my Animate Guardian would probably die easily in the endgame using Method 2 or 3...
The build is thought to be a "serious" one (I hope so ;-)). I already use a writhing jar in combination with divine ire (best spell IMO to kill all worms in 100% of cases) to summon both spiders and sentinels to start the party. Auras are a problem due to the HoP reservation. However I managed to use Skitterbots and Pride (I mostly focus on physical damage) which is the best combo that works in my case. My defenses are ok I guess. With flasks up I'm at 80-90% physical damage reduction (5 Endurance charges, 100% uptime via Redblade Banner & Enduring Cry), 75% Ele-Res, 75% attack and spell block (glancing blows), Life > 6000, nice Life Recovery via Enduring Cry. I'm also using CWDT-Immortal Call which gives me great additional protection in tough situations (something about 85% less physical and elemental damage taken on top). In addition I gain almost immunity to elemental ailments (Sign of the Sineater), enemy hinder (Singularity), enemy blind (Redeemer Chest) from my Animated Guardian. I think damage is sufficient for end game with >10M combined damage against Sirius (HoP: 4x1.5M, Spiders: 20x230k), though I haven't reached the endgame yet (the first version of this build has at least defeated Chimera deathless once without problems). My plan is to treat my chronic restartitis with this build and finally play the endgame (I usually stop a build once reaching last tier of red maps for whatever reason ...).However, I guess there is potential for optimization with cluster jewels (atm I'm not using cluster jewels since this completely new to me). Altogether, I am completely satisfied with my build, except that I have to stop every 30-60 seconds to cast new minions. Even if the casting only takes few seconds, it bothers me very much, because I m a lazy guy ;-). Regarding an "Overlord meme build": I've tried such a build with approx. 130 Minions on screen doing >10M damage. However summoning Animate Weapons was a pain in the ass, and the build felt quite squishy with only 4500 Life and just mediocre to medium defensive layers. However, to see the screen filled with a horde of minions was a nice experience ^^ Cheers X3Z |
