Dirty techniques to increase death counts
Just expressing some sentiments after about a year of playing this game. Somehow got the feeling that the game is resorting to all sorts of "dirty techniques" to increase death counts, so that POE can be branded as a "difficut" game.
Kill or degen you when you are talking to NPC. Cover entire screen with skill effects you hardly see yourself or the boss, let alone the dangers. Color choices, dark red on dark flooring. White effects on ice texture. Generally dark rooms, caves, hallways, the list goes on. Stairs, small tiny unevenness that get you stuck easily. The infamous GGG doors, and now added levers as well (Grave Trough map). Put exile in narrow doorways and spin chilling laser beams at him with a wall in front so he can't see shit. Unknown explosions. Boss like Maven blocking the fights. Just simply one shot you. Go back for more and you are still clueless and lose up to 60% exp. Player frustrated and quit game. GGG Won? I mean, the game can be made difficult in terms of other contents, like getting good crafts (which already is with all the RNG), boss with certain mechanics to learn and practise (even variations in what the boss will do so you cannot always anticipate), etc. Although the skill tree, skill gems and ascendancy classes have supposedly provided infinite possibilities in creating a unique character, on paper that is, current state of gameplay is not. Many builds are tuned towards - extremely high dps to kill all enemies before they can start anything so no need to bother with any boss mechanics, Avarius is good example. - channeling skills and any skills that require you to be stationary are highly prone to deaths. - Just run easy maps. - Just do easy bosses. - Just avoid one shot contents like Metamorph or even beyond. - Or just uninstall and quit the game. Forgot about sound telegraphic absent sometimes, so offscreen oneshots are a theng.
And Invisible monsters and bosses also entered lately. |
