PoE "netcode" is amazingly good
Usually I dont have very good opinion about how PoE is programmed - lots of bugs, whenever they try to fix one thing, another thing breaks, etc. But was pleasantly surprised how well PoE handles bad internet connection. Here is the story:
Have few computers in the same home connected with cable, tried to play multiplayer game via "Steam". Somewhy had incredibly bad connection: when computer "A" hosted a game, computer "B" wasnt able to connect to it and when computer "B" hosted a game, both computers experienced huge desynchronization/stuttering. Never had such issues before, it used to work flawlessly, so started to look around what has changed, where the problem could be. On the software level everything looked fine. Tested another game via "Steam" - same issue. Then tested standalone PoE client - created a party using both computers and game ran smoothy, no hickups. Eventually found out that plug on one of the internet cables was loose. Pushed it back firmly into the socked and all problems disappeared. Apparently when cable is loose, instead of internet connection disappearing you can get very slow speed. I am impressed how well PoE handled it without any issues while other games failed. so you had problems with games that use "steam" and tried the standalone poe client and no problem? maybe the issue is steam? before praising GGG at least try the standalone clients of those other games

" steam is garbage. everyone knows that. and poe's spaghetti code is a hot mess as well,so saying that its amazingly good is exaggerating to say the least. even people with expensive gaming rigs have trouble running this game smoothly |

" Correct me if I am wrong but game engine contains subcategories like video engine, memory management, networking, etc. If rendering engine sucks it doesnt necessarily mean that networking sucks. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" - Edmund Burke

Infamous PoE netcode is generally known as the main reason for poor performance throughout the whole development of the game, since day one.
But if so impressed, take it home with you. Nothing wrong. This is a buff © 2016
