do scorching ray totems stack dmg on single target?

short: do scorching ray totems stack their dmg?

i asked online and used pob -> theres no answer for me to find valid
some tell they stack - some say they dont
some tell the debuff stack and not the pure dmg and others something else

looking inside the forum and reading the wiki wont answer my question can someone valid tell me if i have 4 scorching ray totems -> do they stack their dmg on one enemy?

Intended behaviour is that damage from multiple scorching ray totems stacks.

This is bugged sometimes so I'm not sure whether it works as intended atm.

oh interesting. im curious about this now as well. i wouldn't think it would stack

reason is, is because stacks of scorching ray stack up on the monster itself. so once at max stacks i'd imagine the mob would only take that much damage. AKA once the mob hits max SR stacks of dmg, it can't take anymore.
i'd think that with multiple totems the only thing that would help with is stacking up the stacks faster.

so the way i'd think about it is multiple totems would apply multiple stacks to a single monster, but its damage would not stack.

multiple sources of DIFFERENT burning damage (scorching ray, searing bond, burning ground, etc) will stack, but multiple of the same source will not stack (scorching ray, searing bond, burning ground, etc).


i'd say im 95% sure multiple scorching rays will not stack their damage, but they WILL stack their channel stacks (so multiple sources would just mean you reach max SR stacks faster).
it should work exactly like searing bond, which is the same thing. multiple searing bond beams will not stack their damage
so here we have the problem im breaking ... the wiki wont tell correctly and in detail what works and what not.
can we somehow ask for an explanation from ggg side?

Of course you can ask GGG. The best thing to do is to email suppoort@grindinggear.com and ask them that way, rather than waiting for someone to possibly see one small thread in the middle of a huge forum.

ya let us know. its pretty crazy how inconsistent some of the things in this game are, seemingly.

because most damage over time effects do not stack from the same source. bleed, ignites, burns, burning ground, searing bond, caustic arrow, vortex, cold dot.
but some do like poison and toxic rain.

is SR one of those exceptions, or not? im guessing not. there seems to be no indication that it would or should be.

You are quoting a thread from 2018. It has old and outdated information. Pay attention to what you are looking at...you can confuse newbies and lurkers alike. Things have changed a shit ton is 2 1/2 years, what once was a thing may not be a thing anymore.
