Lightning Mirage

I just wanted to take a brief moment to bash on the one thing in this game that I hate more than anything: Lightning Mirage.

It makes stationary builds (among many other things) a sitting duck.

It breaks all the rules that a mechanic should have IMO. It fires off quickly at your location, it tracks and chases you, the detonation time is very low and explodes in a decent sized AOE for a TON of damage. There is no pause in the spawning of new lightning mirages and they don't stop coming when you kill the originator.

Ritual just makes it worse with such a small area to move in which is sometimes compounded by a hallway, wall or obstacle.

In summary, Lightning Mirage can die in a fire. :)
Thanks for all the fish!

you forgot the best part: When the lightning mirage explodes, it releases shocking ground.

So, if your non-movement self-cast channeling build is not oneshotted by the first Lightning Mirage, it will be killed by the second lightning mirage thanks to the 50% incDamageTaken (assuming it works like that in red-tier maps). Unless, of course, you are immune to shock.

I understand that the game pretends you to keep moving or else. At this point, however, either they massively boost bonus While Stationary, or just get rid of them altogether.

I've completely given up on stationary builds except when I just accept that I won't progress. Soon they'll realize that mobile builds are not as prone to Lightning Mirage and we'll get this patch note....

-Lighting Mirage has been augmented with Flicker Strike to create balance between mobile builds and stationary builds

At this point, stationary builds are just a noob trap. Every time I see a "Just started playing" thread, I jump in and give exactly that advice. If they want to create incentive to play them, they need to quit creating mechanics that are rapid fire forcing you to move or die.
Thanks for all the fish!
That quick, whiny sound indicating lightning mirage though. At least we have that to indicate it’s time to move around.
Lightning Mirage and Baran mobs are true love of GGG to Melee chars.

Now seriously, Spell Block and Cyclopean Coil works fine with this.

That is assuming I am wearing my headphones all the time :)
but yeah, screw Lightning Mirage.

Or playing with sounds.
Low-end pcs need every single possible tips and tricks in order to have a horrible and barely playable experience. One of those is muting game sounds.

Horrible, I know. It's been 2 years since I've heard sounds in this game.

I've never had much trouble with this. Once the white guys start homing in on you... move. Pretty easy strategy to implement.
Really? This is one of the few mechanics are that are great in PoE. It's easy to understand and see even in the clutter of PoE's visuals. It puts pressure on every player to reposition, not just stationary skills.

I found that slotting in a Topaz Flask with Shock Immunity helps as well.
