Multiple skill gems of the same type all linked should be on one hotkey
I currently have 3 Bear Trap gems linked together with a single Added Fire gem. These utilise 3 of my 8 hotkey slots!
I'd love it if, as they are all linked together with the same support, they could be to combined on to one hotkey so that I can use the two other keys for something more useful, like the multitude of curses I want to run! I realise that things get a little complicated when the gems are different levels from each other, but that could be managed by using the highest first, the lowest first, or the order they were put in to your gear, and then once you've used one trap from each gem, the cycle would repeat for the second trap. Instead of me having to go Q, W, E, Q, W, E, Q, W, E I'd like to go Q, Q, Q, Q, Q, Q, Q, Q, Q! In b4 jokes about QQing! IGN: DeadLoss

I think this would be a good idea to consider.
Since its quite annoying if you make a Trap focused Build and you have to spend almost all your Hotkeys on Traps. Ign: Slimwaterman

Yeah it'd be nice to have an option to put multiple skills on one hotkey, and have it just start with the top one and move down the list as the need arises. Or maybe there would be a secondary option to have the list cycle with each use, or even a third option to randomize it.

Using multiple copies of a skill as a way to reduce cooldowns comes at a price, and that's hotkeys. It shouldn't be free.

I think the fact that it already comes at the cost of sockets is enough. I don't see anyone advocating a tool that helps them change their gems out faster, or gain EXP on gems that aren't equipped. If there really is something overpowered about bypassing a skill's cooldown by having multiple copies of it, then I think it should have a hard cooldown that isn't bypassed by using another gem of the same skill.
On the other hand, I'd be more satisfied with the current system if it included enough hotkeys to represent all of the skills a person is likely to have equipped. As it stands, we get up to 24 gems (6 more on switch-off) and only 8 skill hotkeys. So unless we have 2 support gems to every skill gem, we can't have all skills hotkeyed at once. I realize that many people like to have only a few skills supported by lots of gems, but some of us like to have a wide variety of skills to react to every situation, and we shouldn't be penalized for that. Unless those Bear Traps are exactly the same -- exactly the same support gems used, all gem levels identical, all gem qualities identical -- the game should not let you stack them, because they are in fact distinct from one another.
I don't think the game should make a special case for the odd occurrence of the various Bear Traps actually being functionally identical, which is the only situation in which OP's suggestion approaches acceptable. Imagine you are leveling and, when Bear Trap A gains a level, everything shifts onto one hotkey, then a little later Bear Trap B gains a level and it splits into two again. -1 When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. I think it would be better if you manually put multiple skills on the hotkey. I'm already bothered that the left click automatically turns into attack if I take a skill off of it, and I have to manually put the skill back on it, even if I was just putting a gem from the old gear into the new gear.

" I think as long as the sockets are the same one should be able to stack them. And i think its not good that its an odd occurrence that various Traps are used. As it is right now its really annoying to make a trap based character only because of the Hotkey situation. Im fine with paying the prize of an additional or some additional sockets used but having to use 4 of my hotkeys for one skill is really annoying. Ign: Slimwaterman
