Xbox one The Poets Pen not triggering at all

I started a new witch a few days ago. Leveling up and was going to swap my lifesprig wand for The poets pen, because it triggers a socketed spell when you attack with the weapon. I have bone offering, desecrate and frost bomb in the Pen. I’m using ball lightning in a hex touch setup. I press the attack button once and let the ball shoot across the screen and disappear. Nothing happens at the end of animation. I hold the button down for multiple attacks, nothing happens. I use my shield charge to try something different, nothing triggers. All three skills in the pen are blanked out like they are with cwdt. The triggering seems like the only part that doesn’t work. I have tried January 29, 30, and 31 many different time of the day, and same result.

Trigger a Socketed Spell when you Attack with this Weapon

Cannot be triggered when you cast a spell.
You should use default attack or an attack that can be used with wands something like Frenzy.

List of skill gems usable with wands:

Frenzy

Kinetic Bolt
Power Siphon - Vaal Power Siphon

Also, only one spell will be triggered when you attack and then will be rotated.
Lets say that you have Fire ball, Arc, Spark then:
Your 1-st attack will cast Fire ball only.
Your 2-nd attack will cast Arc only.
Your 3-rd attack will cast Spark only.
Your 4-th attack will cast Fire ball only and so on.
