Crimson Township boss need a serious rework

So yeah, Crimson Township boss is literally just broken. Over 80% phys reduction 8.5k HP, 1k hp regen + tons and tons of hp regen on block and life steal and I have 75% block rate for both attacks and spells, 78% all res, using flasks to be immune to freeze, ignite, bleed, poison and shock, yet on the Crimson Township map boss ultra tank character is killed in a matter of seconds. Then I tried with my necromancer which melts t16 maps like they are nothing with a huge army of zombies, spectres and skeletons, she killed some of the boss mirror images before exploding in a thousand pieces - faster than my tank.

All I could see was over 10 stacks of a degen which I do not know what is and those stacks are gained in less than a second - literally less than a second, it is not a metaphor. And those stacks alone were dealing over 10k damage/second even with all those defenses.

Yeah it deleted me pretty quickly too, I managed to beat it after 5 portals but damn. Maven was helping too unfortunately, and so I had to beat it in the boss brawl later on. Thankfully a low tier map and a low tier brawl. No WAY I'm trying to fight this thing in a high tier map.

Character is a max block axe/AA gladiator. Maybe the Aegis Aurora helped me regen fast enough to not melt before dishing out some damage.
Looks like the debuff is a phys degen over time applied by ground effects, so block and block-related defenses are completely useless. Melting through 8.5k hp + 1k regen sounds absurd, tho, even if most of that phys reduction % probably doesn't apply here.

I was looking at some videos and I also noticed some stacks of the degen being apparently permanent, which sounds even crazier - there are some big glowing red balls that apply the degen only when you're nearby, but these players were getting tagged with multiple stacks simply by.... existing in the same room as the boss or something? Hard to tell since it's the red-on-red-with-a-dash-of-red GGG special.
It is indeed phys degen so Block and Armour are pointless. Only flat Phys Dmg Reduction from endurance charges, gear, the tree, ascendencies or chaos golem will mitigate it.

I've seen that killing the councillors that he spawns removes the degen... So it is seemingly a DPS gate.

But it's just silly, there is no way to avoid the degen other than nuking those councillors. Other bosses with a degen at least allow you to LOS or such. Here being in the room means it is applied.
The fact that the boss also applies a degen on top of that stacking degen from the councillors makes it so that the fight gets out of hand way too quickly. At which point, even with the recent changes stating "re-entering the arena is less punishing" it is literally impossible in my experience to get back into the fight and it is just a waste of xp to even try.

I'm soon to do my first Sirius fight, so I'll find out what my Elementalist build is worth against end game bosses, but in the mean time, the way I see it is that 6 way lvl81 boss fights, high lvl conquerors, tier 15 bosses, 100% delirious beyond maps, synthesised maps are all fairly easy on this character. But that one TIER13 boss just seems impossible. So either all that content is undertuned or that boss is overtuned.

It does help out against this guy but its still very tough
everything you guys said stands correct. The only thing it bugged me is that it seems after you die, some ground like-ability degen is stacked on the portal, so I don't know what GGG meant with re-entering the arena being less punishing, but what I've noticed is that if you die once to that boss, it is game over. The fact that maven was there healing it and applying her own DPS abilities made it all the worse, but I'm not trying the red version of that map anytime soon again. Maybe not even a yellow one.
After trying out the boss once more: Kadaris spawns Shadow councillors as he is damaged at 16% intervals of his life bar so you need to DPS him slowly and clear the councillors one by one. once dead, the arena-wide degen stops and they leave an orb that projects the same degen locally This is the first boss that actively punishes you for DPSing too fast but not oneshotting him.

March 2022, still no change. Given how well the majority of the other maps are designed, it's surprising how comically-terrible Crimson Township is designed. Even if it was beatable without specializing your gear specifically to counter it, insane degen that is virtually unavoidable is a TERRIBLE mechanic. There is absolutely nothing fun about the encounter, win or lose.

GGG, to be blunt, it's an epic failure. I am beyond shocked that it is still in the game at all, much less still in the game with no change.

Let me reiterate: Countering this with ideas as to how to beat it is not a valid counterargument. That isn't relevant. The point is that the encounter is about as far from fun as you can get. There is nothing enjoyable about it, and even if you manage to kill the boss, it still feels terrible.

I honestly do not understand.

i killed him once this league for the atlas point and didnt notice anything. this is not a popular map and most ppl just run it once so i guess its not a priority to fix (if there is anything wrong)

No you dont dps him slowly. You blast him as fast as possible. Everything else is sketchy because you have to kill the totems or whatever they are he spawns while dodging his spells if you dont have good dps.
You can see a debuff on you for each totem he spawned, its a skull on red background and it has a number on it whenever there are more than one.
Thats what Kills you if you dont blast the Totems or him fast enough.
And yes Armour/Block does nothing against this guy. Only flat phys mitigation helps a little bit but thats not the play because the dot is too high to rely on that with 2 or more debuffs on you.

Tldr to kill this Boss savely you need good dps to kill him before he does anything or you have insane amounts of regen/flat phys dmg reduce.
Its much easier to get enough dps imo and thats coming from a hcssf guy.

Just go in, pop all your CDs/Curses and blast. If thats not enough to kill him before you die to the Degen i would recommend just dont do the Boss till you can.
