-> THE Endgame Problem / Paradox <-
Hey all,
So here's my Feedback regarding the Mapsystem-Endgame as it is right now. there are several problems: 1) Chisels Why are there chisels? they were implemented to give players the ability to increase the dropchance of maps in a map since %IIQ (as a mod on an item) doesnt anymore. what is the consequence? every map above lvl70 has to be chiseled 4 times, otherwise you wont gain enough maps and then run out of maps. what to do if you are out of chisels? solutions: - farm lowlvl maps till you have enough chisels. -> too much time wasted - trade them. in the beginning of open beta it was easy compared to now. but in the meantime, nearly everyone needs chisels, so nobody will trade them for a lower ratio than chisel 2:1 chaos. this means: more currency has to be spent on "the ability to do a lvl 70+map" 2) IIQ/IIR i myself play an IIQ/IIR cold witch build with currently 74% quantity (+35% from support gem) and 108% rarity. (so im not whining about those builds, just telling you whats the difference) IIQ still increases the quantity of currency, so there drops more currency PER AREA (and this is what counts at this mapsystem) for a character who's stacking IIQ than for one who doesnt. this means: the non-IIQ-stacking-char cannot balance his weakness regarding itemdrops (which would normally simply be his faster killspeed) because he isnt able to do chiseled maps because he has -oh wonder- no chisels or runs out of maps if he plays unchiseled maps. 3) currency burn the best quantity buffs on maps are maze, area is larger, +pack size, and more rare/magic monsters. 2 of these combined with ~100% quantity on a map is what people usually call a good map. (why? mainly because they have the highest chance to drop maps again, so you dont run out of maps) so how do you get such a map? 1. chisel it 2. alch it 3. burn chaos orbs on it 3b. possibly exalt it 3c. possibly exalt it 4. be a poor man because you just burned all your currency. -> conclusion: you are not able to play solo in the Endgame because you either 1. have to waste hours and hours on farming or trading (or both) to get chisels (-> loss of fun & motivation), or 2. run out of maps (if you dont use your currency to roll map-sustaining maps), or 3. run out of currency (if you do use your curency) my opinion for a solution: remove chisels, remove IIQ from items, increase droprate of maps IGN: Grombakh Last edited by Zerum#5536 on Mar 31, 2013, 8:20:21 AM

I don't think there's much new to this thread. I did want to address one thing, I don't think many people are exalting maps nearly as frequently as everyone assumes. There's so many threads that just assuming exalting maps is a common practice. I think the only people doing it are insanely rich or people who read these threads and just assume it's what other high level players are doing. We really shouldn't be making this seem like a common occurrence.

I'd like to see Chisels become IIR instead of IIQ, then increase map drop rate slightly to compensate. This would make chisels cool, but never really feel necessary; instead of using them on every map you'd end up using them on your best ones, as it should be.

Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. Chisels really really suck in their current form. You use them on good maps like your supposed to and you still get jack squatt. In their current form they should have a higher drop rate so you can at least use them more frequently. Or leave the drop rate the way the are and MAKE THEM MORE USEFUL.

" The only people that exalt maps are like the top 0.1% of players that are often twitch TV streamers The majority of people do not have the currency to exalt maps, nor the time to make up for any losses that may incur. Last edited by deteego#6606 on Mar 31, 2013, 6:29:51 AM

" I am level 86 and i have been exalting my 76-77 maps. Whether this problem only applies to 0.1% or 0.0001% of the population is completely irrelevant. Unless you group up for the ultra end game maps, you will be broke in a matter of hours, regardless of how many chaos/exalts you have. There is a problem, and to some people it already applies. |

i myself simply just dont burn currency on 70+ maps (unless its simply unplayable / has high probablility of me dying / takes an hour to clear... then i use a chaos on it - solved)
so i farm lvl 66-69 blue maps till i got lvl 70 oder 70+ again, then chisel + alch them and simply run them without any currencyburn. i have no 70+ maps very soon again at this way, but atleast i can hort my currency. best way to play at this mapsystem atm if you are not playing in a 6players perty permanently.
