Performance downgrade from Heist to Ritual league

Well, I somehow managed to improve performance by lowering fps cap (locked it at 60) and switching to vulkan.
Can't tell why it worked, it makes no sense at all. They may eventually fucked dx11 all over or smth.
So I'd recommend giving vulkan a try, even if playing on low-mid end machines (as long as it doesn't crash the game as it happen with certain setups).

Now there's longer rendering just at the initial start of the game, but further transition between zones is smooth, lag and fps drops are gone as well.

Performance is horrible, game is still crashing, I have lost 2 levels surely because game just gets frozen and Alt f4 does not help instant and I end up dying. Its really pathetic performance and launch ... I was so hyped and I am already starting to loose temper and patience for the entire league because of this
Performance is trash this league. The game client is crashing often, fps are all over the place (between 140 and 15 from just walking in the hideout), and textures are loading extremely slow.

Nothing in my system has changed other than this game update since Heist.
i also think this is a step to a worse experience

never ever in a map my lightning ball started to shoot out like grey blobs .. now they do, it's so ugly like we went back 10 years

i thought my PC had problems or my internet had problems.. but i see this is the new strategy of GGG how to decrease the load on their servers (must be, why else would you put us through this?)

i really hate this and its happening everywhere, not only in maps - its in towns, in my hideout, everywhere.. :(
i actually realized it loads my ball lightning only when i start to cast it............ so i can wait in map however long but my spell won't be loaded only after i start to use it... this is even worse than i thought

and its funny that i actually paid for this celestial mtx.. and its screwing me over

i feel like the performance this league has dropped by quite a margin again.

when it gets to rituals i blindly spam my skills in hope not to die because i cant even see stuff anymore. the fps drop to like 20 with a gtx 1070. dont tell me this gpu isnt enough for this game anymore when it runs perfectly fine even todays AAA games.

i guess thats what happens if you continue to bloat a game each league...
already considering to quit bc of these issues. you run the map and try to be fast and efficient then you get a lag spike, next you see is a full screen of monsters that fire their projectiles and you are dead. great. fun

ps: dont get me wrong, i like this league, its just these damn performance spikes and bad optimization that drives me nuts

It's some new gimp texture pre-load thing they added or scuffed this league. I tried 4 different video drivers including the one I used in Heist which ran fine. 100FPS at 3440x1440p all day.

This league however had massive stuttering and that texture loading issue.

I did manage to fix the massive stuttering by switching to Vulkan which has previously been a few FPS lower than DX11. At this point even if it is the resulting play quality is worth it.

I made a post about this myself and noted DX11 was slamming my CPU to 100% usage when generally nothing makes it break 70% on any of the cores. Some players may find switching useful.

The texture loading was improved slightly but running off an m.2 960 Pro SSD, I can only laugh.

EDIT: Oh and don't use January's Nvidia Drivers. It has an issue with rendering black outs.

GGG, could you please make this "texture streaming" optional in the settings? Considering quitting poe altogether until it gets better. Currently its more anoying than fun.

From what has been mentioned in the patch notes, texture streaming, by itself, is not the problem.

I've been playing with Vulkan for the longest time and it is way lighter on the CPU because of how it handles certain calls. Even so, rapidly killing spawning Ritual monsters is causing lag spikes.

After the troubles with the database server, I feel the game is a bit smoother to play (since there's no problem with rollbacks and latency spikes), but the game still needs to be patched regarding loading assets and managing system memory (apparently there's a memory leak)
Performance has been awful in all regards since Ritual. FPS in towns is far reduced and a bigger issue the more players there are, some town based textures take ages to load even on my 960 evo and a clean instal it's sometimes upto 30 seconds to load in certain character models but only in towns, in my hideout it's fine.

Vulcan setting improves the loading times of textures, but it's still horrible, clearly something is massively wrong if something that is meant to help performance actually makes it worse
