Friend Can't complete bandit Quest

My friend and I were doing the bandit quests and we wanted different buffs so when the time came to kill alira I logged off and he did the first part of helping alira. I then logged back into the game and chilled for a bit looking at my build and then killed alira thinking we were in completely different instances since I had exited the game entirely and then chilled in lioneye's watch as he went and killed oak. He came back to turn in the quest to alira and she was dead. After some debating and trouble shooting I convinced him to just try and get the extra skill points because we didn't know what else to do and he can't do that since alira is already dead and eramir wants him to kill her still. Any help would be great
