Tailwind/action speed/gale force is bugged
Hello,
It seems that action speed from tailwind doesn't update the movement speed and attack speed at all: https://imgur.com/a/a7TEFlU Last bumped on May 2, 2021, 3:13:24 AM

Have the same issue.
From my investigation it seems like: 1.I stack 10 Gale Force 2.I see in character screen that my action speed modifier = 20% 3.Regular attack speed is not updated in character sreen 4.Cast speed is not updated also 5.Movement speed is not updated 6.Attack time on skill bar also does not update the attack value My best guess is that Tailwind currently is not working properly. My cast speed feels the same with or without the stacks, same goes for attack speed and movement speed. Hope its just one line of code to fix :P Peace |

It's definitely not working correctly I currently cannot get it to stack more then 7 times using normal means, it appears the 4 second duration of each stack is bugged. However, for some reason smoke mine allows me to hit 10 stacks for a whole 1-2 seconds. Edit: It appears to me like gale/tailwind is actually lowering itself via increasing action speed, the same way it does for ailments on you, so it's actually making itself expire faster the more of it you have. " Action speed doesn't provide a movespeed modifier, attack speed modifer, or cast speed modifier. It modifies action speed, like Chill and Freeze do. From the PoE community wiki: "Action speed can be considered a multiplier for stats that affect the speed of individual actions, though it does not directly modify those stats." If you really need to see the full extent of how Tailwind/Gale Force is affecting you, try recording a set of actions (like attacking/casting a spell 10 or 20 times) and look at how long it takes with and without Tailwind/Gale Force. " You're trying to stack up 10 instances of a 4s duration buff....with attack speeds of 0.7 and 0.8? The main attack you used for this video was Ground Slam with an attack speed of 0.7 seconds. With Tailwind, and assuming 6 stacks of Gale Force maintained, your action speed modifier is (1 + .08 * ( 1 + .15 * 7 )), or 1.164. Since you're acting 1.164 times as fast as normal, actions take you (1 / 1.164), or roughly 0.86 times as long to complete. So, for this example, I'll be assuming your attack takes (0.7 * 0.86), or roughly .60 seconds to complete. (Both 6 and 7 stacks of Gale Force appear to fall within the range of .60 to .61 seconds, so whether it's rounding up or down, it should be more or less even) If you attack with Ground Slam once, you gain 1 stack of Gale Force, with a 4s duration. Over the duration of this stack of Gale Force, you can get in 6 more attacks, bringing you to 7 stacks. At this point, you reach an equilibrium: You have 7 stacks for .4 seconds, drop to 6 stacks for .2 seconds, then attack again to turn to 7 stacks. You attack every .6 seconds and lose a stack every .6 seconds. If action speed was doing nothing for you, then attacking once would grant 1 stack of Gale Force for 4s, and you'd be able to attack 5 more times over the duration for a stack count of 6. Before your 7th attack, the first stack would expire, and you'd be bouncing between 5 and 6 stacks. Your experimenting with Smoke Mine demonstrates that faster actions stack Gale Force faster: you can throw a mine and quickly detonate it for 2 stacks in considerably less time than it takes to perform one Ground Slam. Also....Tailwind/Gale Force shouldn't have any affect on the duration of ailments, because they are just modifying your action speed. If modifying your action speed affected ailment duration, then Freeze would last forever because it reduces your action speed to 0. While Temporal Chains does affect ailment duration and action speed, it does so through different effects: one line of the gem describes the hex lowering enemies' action speed, while another line describes the hex causing other effects on enemies to take longer to expire. |

Okay but I also tried doing several different skills in that window and they also drop off in a weird behavior, the behavior for tailwind prior to this patch did effect attack speed, movement speed, and still does. What does not work is the gale portion which should be increasing the effect of tailwind, it currently is not. No matter what skill I use there's no change to anything with 1 stack, 7 stacks, or 10. I did try faster attacking skills as well they have the same behavior and you get the weird bouncing. I even tried it with bows, frenzy charges, blood rage, onslaught, same thing happens even though I should be seeing a 9-10, I do not. I also see no change it any attack speeds, movement speed, etc. Even though I am using multiple skills in a 4 second time frame, still not keeping stacks up and I see very spiky behavior in the number as I watch it before locking into the bounce.

Action speed is a modifier affecting animation speed. This effect stacks additively with other modifiers like Temporal Chains and Chill. Its the same as the Acceleration Shrine but instead of 50% action speed its 10% to 20% at max stacks.
