Safest SSF starter : PF toxic rain ?

I play something I wont get too attached to as a starter and wait to see what type of gear I get out of the first few layers of mapping. Any build should be able to run through the first couple watchstones. Then you can plan a build you can commit to based on what you've found.

By that time the first few patches are out and things have started to settle down. You can make a much more informed opinion as to what you would enjoy playing.

I think that autotargeting is going to be really important in the Maven fights. You're not going to be able to single target 10 bosses one by one. Builds that rely on that strategy are going to be really hard to get through that barrier. The ones that will are going to be the ones that simply don't care where their damage goes. Think how Winter Orb plays rather than how Viper Strike does.

I'm going Mines. Plop them down, run away, detonate. Never played that style before, but it seems designed for this type of league. It also seems to be "under the radar" as no one is complaining about it being nerfed to the ground or buffed to absurd levels. That's a really strong selling point.
Im going to throw out warchief totmes as a contender, pretty tanky easy to do build
I dont see any any key!

Safest? Hell no.

They are ok but their defenses are evasion based which means eventually you will die.

You want armor, fortify defenses, like champion (although nerfed now) and jugg.

Coming from someone who never made any decent eva/dodge build. I played CA Pathfinder to 98 in metamorph and 99 in delirium and the build shit on majority of the game.

Died few times in metamorph from the likes of malfo piety that instabeamed me with dmg enough to instakill me, never had any other issue with other metamorphs, included variants with shaper guardians and such.
Died a bit more in delirium, but there i ran really juiced maps. Completed a lot of simulacrum as well, only dying a few times to Kosis until i learned his moves. The other simu boss never hit me once during the entire league.

And i NEVER rerolled maps, no matter what mods. Crit, proj, added dmg, i dont care...

99% of builds will eventually die. And you can't compare only evasion to what you throw out. Pure evasion is like a pure armor build, which also is garbage(for normal builds and not aura cheesing, you need end charges and/or fortify to make armor good).

The comparison of what you have is pretty much what i had as eva variant. 45k eva, 52/42 dodge, kintsugi and flesh and stone. Also remember that eva builds get crit less which matter a lot.

And as topic, i will likely start with another CA pathfinder because endless flask and the function of CA is so good. Toxic rain is fine unless they nerf it a lot.
You just wasted 3 seconds reading this.

EK Chieftan is really easy to make. I used level 5 wands basically up to level 80 last league and had about 300 - 500k damage with terrible gear on a 5 link - could have gotten more damage but I just stopped putting time into him but it was really easy to make him
My standard league start in SSF is a skele/zombie hoard necromancer. The assendancy changes will change nothing for me in that regard. It typically gets me into red mapping even on 4L and 5L equipment with no uniques while I try to get a good drop I can really make a build around.

You may want to consider traps instead of mines this league, the youtubers I've seen who love traps and mines have been bitching for leagues about how mines are just strictly better traps since the mine changes a few leagues ago.

HOWEVER this time around they're saying they think traps might have the edge when facing the Maven boss encounters because you're less stationary as a trapper.
People forget you DONT NEED to put all 20 mines before detonating them. Everyone who says that mines will be bad for Maven enocunter because you will need to stay in place is just full of BS. Put detonate mine on left click, mine skill on right click, spam right click while moving and automatically detonating mines. Hell, traps will be in worse position because throwing traps is slower than throwing mines.
