Help Dying a lot in Heist

Guys, I am new to the game and playing with my wife in ps4, she is an archer and I wanna be a necromancer (solo leveling feelings) in act 5 actually at lvl 48. We go wild and crazy with no major issues, but in boss fights like the end of the act 4 and in Heist jobs with lvl 48/49 we got hit kill a lot
We need some advise with build and with some mechanics.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english

it is because you have only little +Life on your gear and no % increased life passives from tree. in act 5, your Life should be around 1500. Also your elemental resists should be capped.
IGN: Eric_Lindros
CET: Timezone
Life and resists should be your highest priority on gear. You have almost no life on gear, and none on your tree. You passed three life clusters on the tree. You should take all of those. You are close to a big life cluster (Constitution node). You should take all of those also when you get enough points.

On the left, you took the Precision cluster. You don't need those. You should take the life nodes next to them instead. You don't need the cast speed for a minion build unless you are playing Raging Spirits. You will lose 20 dex. You have some gems with dex requirement. You don't need those, but they are increasing your dex requirement. You can get rid of gems like Lightning Strike, Greater Multiple Projectiles, and Detonate Dead. Leveling unnecessary gems is a common cause of problems with stat requirements. Consider that when you choose your gems.

If you party with your wife, be aware that a party increases the life of mobs.

One trick for bosses is for one person to "tag" the boss by engaging it by themselves. Then as soon as they engage the boss, the second person enters. You can do this by placing a portal, with the second person waiting in town ready to go through the portal. This will make the boss fight a lot easier. (I don't know if this works in boss fights that have a locked boss room.)

You are level 48 and doing level 48-49 Heists. You might consider doing lower level. The difficulty of Heists vary a lot. If you don't have a stronger build, and you get a tough group of mobs in Heist, it can be very difficult.

If you did all the quests, you should have some passive respec points. I'd start by getting rid of those three Attack/Minion nodes by Retribution. Use the three points you recover to take the three life nodes (Discipline and Training cluster). After you take those nodes, then get rid of the three nodes next to them (Precision cluster). Use those three points to take more life nodes. I'd take the nodes By Witch (Heart and Soul).
short answer I suggest Evasion and Blind.

As Summoner you probably gonna run loots of auras but as a team of two you can split some defenses.
Flesh and Stone is easy to start with to access blind aura, it will reduce monsters accuracy by flat 50 (90% is natural top end but it check against your evasion of course so it be even less) and reduce they chance to hit, stun and critical strike (and things like freeze, chill, and ignite as critical have 100% chance to apply elemental ailments).

After you can replace it for abyssal jewel with - Minions have (5-6)% chance to Blind on Hit with Attacks, having 1-2.

Decoy totem or some taunt chance on 1-2 jewels for minions (taunted enemy do 10% "less" damage to other targets and ignore them but bosses are bit more complicated)

Grace and blind is great, having evasion is needed to evade attack, if you use Vaal orb on grace aura there is chance to get Vaal grace as a bonus duration skill. Can find it on trade for cheep and link it with increased duration.

Banners, reserve vary little mana and having two players each can have one for staking bonuses even higher and they can be used offensively as well for huge short time boost when activated.

Late game you probably figure about Temporal chains + chill aura or some other ways that fit your play style.

PoE can be quite difficult for a new player.

Don't be discouraged.

As previously mentioned, here are some general ideas for new players.

1)All rare gear items should have good life rolls.

2)Don't use too many unique items. Unlike most games, rares can be much better than uniques. Use uniques only for special effects they provide.

3) Cap your elemental resists. While not necessary in act 5, you WILL need to cap your elemental resists prior to finishing Act 10.

4) The most common error newbies make in PoE, is to spend all their skill tree points buffing their offense. You NEED defense, life nodes + some other sort of defense, perhaps armor, perhaps evasion, perhaps block.
(Archers tend to go evasion, minion masters tend to go block.)

Some Minion Knowledge.
Unlike many games, your minion damage is NOT related to player damage. Skill tree and gear bonuses ONLY effect minions if it says MINIONS. (Or allies, minions count as allies)

Minion damage is based on the Gem Level of the summoning gem. Getting more gem levels, from necromancer tree, or gear is best way to scale minion damage.

The second most important way to scale minion damage, is support gems. Minions can be supported by minion damage support, and any support gem that works for the attack or spell that they use. Example, Zombies do a melee physical attack, so they can be supported by Melee Physical Damage Support, or Multistrike Support, or Impale Support.

Bonuses on the Skill Tree are third in importance. They are important, but not as important as gem levels, and support gems.

Minions have a base 40% elemental resists, 20% chaos resist.
As a minion master, you will need to get their elemental resists up to 75% for when you get to end game.

I am a self proclaimed minion expert in PoE.

I wrote a minion build guide explicitly for NEWBIES.
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2883137

Even if you don't use it, please read it, it is detailed, and will give you a LOT of important information on minion builds.

P.S.
Archer - Minion Master is a good duo for newbies.
Archers in PoE tend to be glass cannons, and the horde of minions you provide will help keep your archer buddy alive.

You need at most 2 main "skill" gems whereby you want to have as many "support" gems as possible on those skills. One "skill" for clearing and another for single-target. Bow and armour can have up to 6 links each, so 5 support gems on a skill each is the end goal to achieve. 6L is going to be too expensive at this point of your game. You can hope for Tabula to drop for you or settle with 4L for now. Not sure how is the Auction House because I don't play with consoles.

I don't play in parties much, but I think playing as duo with a necro means you can neglect single-target duties for now. Leave that to the necro. He's typically better at that.

Find some guides in the Ranger section. I'm pretty certain most people will agree that Caustic Arrow, Toxic Rain or Scourge Arrow are the more forgiving skills to build around for solo play. Probably not the case when you have auras from necro, whereby you instead want skills that benefit from those auras. Ice Shot, Lightning Arrow, Barrage, Galvanic Arrow and Tornado Shot comes to mind but they are pretty nasty to build around in solo play. Bleed Puncture/Split Arrow, Elemental Hit and Explosive Arrow lie in the middle between these two groups.

Builds that focus on the ballista skills are quite niche. Again refer to guides because you may find something interesting with them.

There are many good bow skills.

Since you will be playing as a team, you should coordinate with your husband.

If he is doing a physical damage minion build, choose a physical bow skill.

Above, I linked a minion build guide for him.
If he follows that, his minions will be doing lightning damage, and he will be lowering enemy lightning resists DEEP into the negative. In which case you should use a lightning bow skill. (Some bow skills convert 50% of phys damage to lightning, then you can support with a phys to lighting support gem for a full 100% conversion)

Once you figure out what skill you are going to use, then look up a ranger build guide for that skill.

I would offer more specific advice, but it has been over 2 years since I played a bow ranger, and the game has changed too much since then.

Some Ranger NEWBIE tips.
EVASION is best for newbie rangers, get evasion base for all your gear.
Acrobatics and Phase Acrobatics are two nodes on the skill tree you should get, very good defense for a Ranger. (There is a search function in the skill tree to find stuff.)

Since you are playing with a minion master, you can focus your build on clear speed. As a well built minion master is VERY good at boss killing, but unless wealthy, a bit slow on clear speed.

Use his minions as a defensive shield. Stand behind them whenever possible and shoot the enemy.
Once he gets some jewels with "minions have x% chance to taunt on melee hit", his minions will be an AMAZING tank for you.

P.S.
If your husband does go with my build guide...
You could go with Lightning Arrow, linked to Greater Multiple Projectile Support, Physical to Lightning Support, Pierce Support (4 link) When you get more links you can add Vicious Projectile Support and Pinpoint Support.

You could run Haste Aura and Herald of Thunder.

Normally, you would need a single target skill, but the minions will do single target just fine.
But if you want single target, a second Lightning Arrow with similar supports except instead of Greater Multiple Projectile support, use Barrage Support.

I hate to be the guy with the bad news but tbh Id recommend to reroll to both of you.

You made all the mistakes to be expected from a beginner and your builds did already hit the wall or will soonish. Thats normal in PoE dont worry about it.
If you dont fail the first few attempts you are doing it wrong ;)
A good look at the skilltree should tell you how unlikely it is to get it right first try.

This game requires a ton of knowledge and this knowledge is to be paid for in blood. Again: Dont worry about it, thats perfectly fine.
If you reroll, please stick to the general rules of thumb and Im going to outline in a sec. Reading some guides would also go a long way and you do already have some items, currency and hideouts with crafting benches. So your 2nd attempt should be much smoother and more enjoyable.

General rules of thumb:
- Stack about 300 hp per act. That means you will need flat life rolls on gear as well as %life from the tree. For beginners Id recommend to go for 180%+ life from tree at least - the more the better
- Try to cap your elemental resistences best you can. Most of the res needs to be on your gear. A purity of elements aura (act3) can help if you are struggling in this department
- Use your crafting benches in your hideouts to add either life or res to your gear. Those two stats should be your main priority. Nothing is as important as these two.
- Useful items for leveling: Goldrim helmet (all res), Tabula chest (cheap 6link for massive dmg boost) and Wanderlust boots (movespeed and freeze immunity). If you can afford those items, buy them and reroll.
Your overall experience will be much much better.
- Keep moving! Standing still in this game means death.
Move, attack, move, attack is the name of the game. Mobility is a great and cheap defense. This does include moveskills like dash, flame dash, shield charge, blink arrow and so on. You have to have a moveskill, so try the available ones and pick the one you enjoy most.

Necromancer:
- Make up your mind, if you want to go for permanent minions like Zombies, Spectres or Golems. Those will need minion life and minion defenses to survive. Or if you prefer temporary minions like Raging Spirits, Skeletons or Animated Weapons which will last for a couple of seconds and then disappear. Which is why they dont need minion life or anything like that but skill effect duration so they last longer.
Dont invest into both, thats a waste because its not efficient.
- Use offensive auras (act3) to boost your minions dmg. Hatred for instance is a popular dmg aura. Since your necro doesnt benefit from those auras, link them to generosity. This will boost the aura effect and AoE a lot but said auras wont affect your character anymore, which is irrelevant because you want to buff your minions anyways. For defensive auras Id recommend Vitality (not linked to generosity) for life regen and/or Clarity (also not linked to Generosity) for mana regen, if you are struggling sustaining mana.

Ranger:
- Bow builds are very hard to pull off for beginners. They do need quite good gear to shine and will feel very squishy if you dont have that gear.
I wouldnt recommend a generic bow build for a beginner at all.
But if thats you want to play consider a bleed bow gladiator or a toxic rain trickster. Both are bow builds that do not require very good gear and are easy to understand/play.
- Ignore evasion as a mechanic, thats a noob trap...
Evasion will get you killed in no time. Im not going into detail as to why evasion is bad, for now it should be enough to know its bad. Focus on Dodge instead (Acrobatics and Phase Acrobatics on tree). Its far less investment while being way more reliable.
- Point Blank can help out early on with dmg but will force you to fight in close quarters, which isnt what you want to do as a bow char. But again: Its the best dmg you can get early on and if you have enough mobility you can run circles around bosses so they cant hit you and still abuse the dmg buff from Point Blank.
- Get some mana leech going (Essence Sap) so you dont need a mana flask, which will allow you to sacrifice most of your mana to run heralds or auras. Thats your primary way to scale dmg early on. Downside is that you wont have mana, so you need to leech enough mana from each attack to keep going.
This will also allow you to utilize a defensive or offensive flask instead of the mana flask.

I think this is enough for now. I dont want to confuse the both of you with information overload xD

Good luck and stay sane exiles
TKS soo mutch guys, you all are very prestative, I already have a tabula chest and gut another yesterday , already make some changes and got almost 1300 hp each, I will change the gems tonight to see what I can change.
You all are the best 😁
