'NEARBY' has too many different distances

There are too many items with the inconsistent description NEARBY. The vast majority of them actually have different distances. I think NEARBY should always mean the same thing OR - if that's not possible - put the correct distance in units on the item description. I'd actually like to see the units on each item instead of an inconsistently used word.

NEARBY on Leer Cast is 75 units
NEARBY on Belt of the Deceiver is 25 units
(just two examples)

I leave a link here for reference where you can see that NEARBY can mean a lot of different distances: https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Distance

Seconded, Antigegner, "nearby" has way too many different ranges. That said, if we actually change "nearby" with the unit radius, how useful would that be, since the Average Exile Joe has no idea how to calculate a "unit" in game terms?

For effects like the ones you've described, I'd pretty much prefer a not-so-invasive ring like the one from Flesh and Stone. Which is pretty much useless in the Delirium Fog, but still.
One thing also that is super stupid is Point Blank.

I can confirm that if you are playing wander and by standing in 10 point radius from the target you are going to miss with half projectiles from Barrage. You have to be at least at 15 distance (preferably 20) for all proj. to hit because of the wander attack animation with extended hand i guess.

That is a very good question, lol.

I only have a very clumsy and un-elegant solution for this:

GGG could assign a key to an overlay grid with all available radii, which is only available while you are in your HO. That way we could switch it on and off any time we want see what the units mean visually.

Lulwhut. That's amazing.

I mean... obviously it's unacceptable and shouldn't exist in the game. But it's definitely in "so bad it's hilarious" territory.

As a matter of fact, it's not too different from the radius calculation we can see in Path of Building. Still, it's only a way for the player to get a generic reference. Best would be something a bit more dynamic, like Flesh and Stone as stated before

Would we then have a ring for every item and skill that has a radius while we play? Your point of it not being visible enough is correct. It could even add to more visual clutter, right? (just asking to make sure I fully get it)

I was thinking about this grid here (same as in wiki), just that you could switch it on and off while standing in your HO. That way you could check what the unit number would actually look like. You could not permanently see it but at least get a feeling for it:

That can be seen very well here where i'm standing at 10 points range. I was too close and my Barrage was missing a lot of hits.
Also at the time build was using cluster with life gain on hit.
With better positioning and buffs it could tank Shaper beam without losing too much life.
Bow standing at 10 points doesn't have this problem.

Here you can see that i have better positioning where the end of my wand while attacking is just before the Veritania and all proj hit, but that's not 10 points according to the chart. At least my perception.

Edit: Apparently, it's my bad because Point Blank says "Projectile Attack Hits deal up to 30% more Damage to targets at the start of their movement" so positioning is different for bows and wands.

Correct. One "ring" is ok. Multiple "Rings" are clutter and not even visible most of the time. I knew the idea was not so good to begin with...

... but YOUR solution, a "toggle" radius for all of your "nearby" sources when pressing a button is a way more discreet and effective solution than mine. I would vouche for it.

How many Units is the NEARBY on Eye of Malice?
