Multiple clients

I was wondering about the multiple client rules.

I was reading the forums and reddit, where it was stated that the client limit is 2clients / machine. Those discussions had references to quotes from up to 6 years ago.

It was somewhat unclear whether you could or couldn't use multiple clients with virtual machines for example.

So here is my situation. I would like to run 6 different accounts/clients, where each account joins a map, and I would only play on one and clear the map as the 5 would afk at the entrance.

I was thinking about running 2 clients on a laptop, 2 clients on desktop, and 2 clients on a virtual machine on said desktop. Each client would be controlled separately of course. Not 6 mouses and keyboards, but clicked on each one separately.

This wouldn't be for botting or such, it would be for doing solo ROTAs, since all accounts would get the master mission at the end.

I would like to get the current stance on this. The second option I have is getting a 2nd laptop and running two extra clients on that.

you are only allowed 2 client per physical pc, so no VMWare / Hyper-V would not help you here.
Also if you do anything like "automation" with your multi client setup, this is an automatic perma ban.

you should e-mail GGG support about this and remember to save the reply for "later".

Hi, let me offer some clarification around multiple clients for you:

Essentially, the rule is, as you mentioned, no more than 2 clients can be run at the same time on one computer. So, if you run 2 clients on your desktop and each laptop, you should be fine.

If you load a virtual machine on a computer, any clients running on that virtual machine still counts towards the client limit.

Finally, all inputs must be manual, meaning that you cannot simply mirror inputs, and you must enter the map specifically with each individual character.

A good reference post on Reddit can be found here (although, it seems you have perhaps found this post yourself): https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/1wkyy3/discussion_ggg_can_we_get_some_transparency/cf31wrz/

Okay great, thanks for clearing this up!

I will go hunting for a second laptop :)

I've already contacted support via email about this for 100% transparency.
