Hidden Stats

So are there hidden stats on gear?

There have been several times where I have switched a piece of gear and the result was well surprising.

Like I would switch out a body armor piece, and some stats would go up way more than what the gear said, or a stat would go up that is not even mentioned on armor at all. Or something would go down when it really shouldn't.

I ask this because I am trying to upgrade things but then when I think I have a piece of gear that is better then I what I currently have when I put it on it is not as good as it looks, or it changes something that I wasn't expecting it to change. (and I am not talking about like an attribute change making a piece of gear not work or something like that)

If there is these hidden stats how do you all deal with that?

Anyways thank you all in advance for any info you can send my way.

beyond the slight reduction to movement speed (-3% for body armors and shields), there is very very rarely hidden stats on items. you are missing something or not fully understanding how the stats interact with the numbers in your character sheet

you should provide some concrete examples of things changing unexpectedly when you change pieces of gear, and we can explain exactly whats happening
If you notice other stats changing you might not have enough stats to wear some other piece of gear without that item.
If you have something that increases strength by a %, the item wont reflect that until you put it on. Might be the issue. But likely what is happening is that you are losing an entire item when your stats drop below its requirement. Look for an item on your character that's red.

When I get in game later I will see if I can recreate what happened. Thank you very much for your help.

As for the others, I do understand that attribute effect that you are talking about and this was not in that category everything was still working before and after the switch, it was more of a drastic change in my ES when there was nothing mentioned about ES on the new gear, but I will try to recreate it when I get in game later.

Thank you all.

did you accidentally take out your discipline aura when you changed your gear? what item exactly was it, was it an es base, was the old one an es base? did it have a lot of int (int gives 2% increased es per 10 int)?
