Only 1 person seemed to not understand that, and even that person may have simply been mis-stating what to invest in. Indeed, weapon range is no longer a factor. Melee strike range is a different matter.

Every little bit helps in that regard, and if you're doing unarmed Marauder or Duelist the ones that matter are pretty close together. If/when you have enough AoE cluster jewels, you can dump them and put the points elsewhere.

I felt the same way almost a year ago and made a char just to experiment and test AoE. I tried a melee elementalist with Voidforge since she has a huge AoE bonus in the ascend tree. Then also made a Slayer using Starforge. Here's what I learned

Huge AoE on paper / stats doesn't reflect visually for some reason. I thought it was cause of range so I maxed out range and that didn't show. The main objective was to see if it was possible to get a Cyclone to fill up at least 90% of my screen. Failed. The AoE looked almost exactly the same as if I didn't invest into AoE and range. Was very disappointed.

Probably because not everyone is meta slave, dint play cyclone for a long time (unlike some people that play cyclone every single league) and they just forgot about this change.

I recommend scrolling your mouse wheel in so you're zoomed in. It does wonders for making your cyclone fill the screen
