Yeah, hi... kinda in a really bad mood now, because the game that has been very, very smooth for my Raider so far suddenly hit a brick wall - I CAN'T finish merciless lab.
Izaro himself is a bro - he goes down easily with or withour crit shrine, and never even hits me. I don't even use any relics except cogs. Rooms - easy, I clean everything and get every chest possible (though I ignore the dog - boring). Phase 3 - I am dead. Even with traps removed, even with buffing shrine, he gets full charges and then just nips me with anything and it's oneshot. It's just feels like some dumb lottery and so far I am losing. Yeah I understand that sooner or later I will manage to evade everything he throws, but I am really getting tired of wasting my time waltzing through the whole labyrinth to always wipe at the end. Any trick to that? Maybe I need some more gems with defensive skills? I spent several hours checking and recheking Lili's stock but did not find anything useful, I blew all my orbs to grab all life nods I could reach for. Last bumped on Oct 19, 2020, 6:18:20 PM

your problem is very simple:
none of your gear has any life on it. |

Izaro has a lot of mechanics that need to be dodged and can easily one shot an under geared character. Fortunately they're pretty easy to spot. You can check what mechanics he uses each day by going to poelab.com. If you're ranged you should try to keep him in vision, his most dangerous attack (radiant slash) is a cone that's harder to avoid if you're far away from him. You can make his 3rd phase easier by your actions in the first two fights (many of the mechanics in the boss room make him tougher if you leave them alone - gain poelab.com has guides on this too).
Basically, if you don't know the fight, you can probably survive by continually running around Izaro in a circle at relatively close range while dpsing as best you can. |

" I know the mechanics, and that's what I am actually doing - I use dash all over the place to dodge everything. But sooner or later he just teleports me into sone if hiw AoE's - I don't understand how to survive him when he has full charges. |

No, you're not done for yet because a lot of your gear doesn't have life rolls on them. You also have very little life allocated on your tree. It also appears you're using two main attack skills. Pick one and then build for that skill so it's stronger.
If you want to try to save the build, the first thing you can do is take the gear you have and see if you can craft on life using your crafting bench. As you're playing keep your eyes open for drops that have a life roll and at least one resist. Put in your bench and see if you can craft on another resist, if so keep it. If you find something that has two or more resists keep it and see if you can add a life roll. As you're doing this you want to try to make sure the gear can support the color sockets you need. Armor rolls red mainly, evasion=green and energy shield rolls more blue sockets. You do this so you don't have to waste a lot of chromes trying to get the socket colors you need for your skills. Once you get a few good pieces equip them and make sure your resists are capped and there is a life roll on all gear if possible. Once you determine what you want to wear, you use jewelers and fusings to socket and link them if necessary. This way your skills are stronger and more efficient when linked with the proper support gems. Since you're playing SSF, you should learn basic crafting at a minimum since you're going to be restricted to using what you find. Keep your eyes open for drops that already have 4L or better because this reduces your reliance on jewelers and fusings. You can then use alchemy orbs to turn them rare and HOPEFULLY get something useful. If you have chaos orbs to reroll the gear you could use those too, and HOPEFULLY get something usefull. I've been playing a self-imposed SSF since I first started the game and this is what works for me up to a point. I could have higher leveled builds I just play really stupid and rush way too many mobs. I still have loads of fun killing and dying though. Arguing on the Internet: What's the point when you can't punch them in the face when they really piss you off?

" Well I'd be... Here I was thinking "where the heck do I get more life?!" - crafting, bugger it! I forgot about it completely, thank you very, VERY much! Already increased life by 500, need new weapon, amulet and belt now. About attack skills... no? Or yes? I use blades of ice for everything, frenzy is just to get those charges fast, not for combat, and vaal blade vortex provide very nice massive nuke and blind support. What do I do wrong? Thank you! |

Lots of good advice above. For some general guidelines...
You have 2k life right now. That's generally not considered sufficient to start mapping. Aside from no life on gear, you are 79% from the tree. 140% is considered pretty low. Even with your high evade and dodge, about 10% of attacks are going to get through (and more spells, since you can't evade them.) With 2k life and no phys mit, you are going to die a lot. You can get up around 4k with SSF gear and fairly simple crafting. Think about some defensive skills and flasks. You have no guard skill, and three life flasks plus a hybrid. Also, getting yourself a 5L for Frost Blades will let you retire Blade Vortex and give you a 4L for defense/utility. And FB on Raider is usually 1H + shield, which will give you more defense. I'd suggest looking at some Raider guides, or builds from Ninja, to get a sense for beefing up your defenses. Here's a FB Raider that is up to date for 3.12: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2081371 Good luck Last edited by GreyLensman#5323 on Oct 16, 2020, 4:48:45 PM

" Apologies if it's a rude question, but have to ask. One of main reasons I decided to try the game again was my pal telling me that GGG has rebalanced the system and now it's not about "whatever you want to play, all your passive tree is about grab all +life nodes across, forget there are other slots" and now all defence techs are equal. Was it a load of bull? |

yea, your friend was wrong.
there has been no defensive rebalance. you still need to take life nodes. there ARE enough passive points that you can definitely take offensive nodes too. but characters need life on gear AND on their tree. evasion and armor are OK as defensive options (armor reduces phys hits, evasion makes you dodge them), but either way, you ARE taking damage eventually. when that happens, you need a good amount of life to survive the hit. "Glad to be of help. You should always be looking for more life, especially on gear. The life rolls you get from drops are usually going to be higher than what you can craft. As you run higher level zones the life rolls will get higher on the drops because of the higher item levels. I'm running t6-7 maps and starting to get life rolls in the 90 and above ranges like
