This is the only limitation, currency. You can perfectly solo anything in this game, but to be able to sustain the high level map drops you need to mod your maps for really high quantity since in any map the map drops are from 66 to level of the map you are playing+2(or 3, dunno, never had a 69 drop in a 66). So in a high level map, say 70+, you still get maps with level as low as 66.

But, counting the fact that in maps you don't have currency penalty, any map is worth doing.

I'm like you OP, except my highest is only at 42. I've been sticking to solo throughout the game, tried grouping but I didn't like it. Too rushed with the kills and mindless scrambling over notable loot, no fun. Glad that it seems perfectly viable for people to solo maps!

Its impossible to sustain maps by soloing. And the cost if you buy them will ruin you.

So yes, ppl group most of the time. (not because they cant clear them but they will run out of maps)

Fixed that for you :) For maps level 66/67 I literally tried and tried to deplete them solo and I found myself only growing the pool 66/67/68. Of course, I am doing them moded with iiq >= 30%.

Well i`m able to sustain my map-pool beyond 70..even if it`s tricky sometimes, yes solo.
But i do agree, this is my only major gripe with PoE, too.
But you gotta keep in mind that further acts are coming aswell as an expansion to act3, so my guess is -> sooner or later this problem will go away anyway eventualy.

How will adding more acts that take a couple of hours to finish help? You still need something repeatable to grind after you've finished all the regular content.

Pretty sure that when a new act is added they will increase the level of maps so that they are greater than the highest level regular content, just like they did when act 3 was added.
