Is tencent/GGG giving your info to China?
In my 2044 presidential run China will surely run a smear campaign on me, pointing out that I quit Heist league without killing Sirus.
I league started with the craptastic steel skills and spectres now fry my graphics card due to PoE's spaghetti code. Give me a break! You should worry more about your phone and your Discord usage. Not PoE. |

Interesting response, going straight to 3rd party sharing data.
Tencent wouldn't be a considered a "3rd party", they are the owners. So they are not sharing anything with themselves... because that's stupid logic and bizarre mental gymnastics. Chris doesn't mention Tencent at all, which is literally in the OP thread title. How do we know what Tencent does with our information? Is Chris speaking on behalf of Tencent operations? I'm not sure if Chris / GGG could even ask, or if Tencent would even be required to say anything. I guess this gets to a larger question, that could use some clarification. When Chris says "We" does he mean Tencent/GGG, or just GGG, to which regions/servers is he referencing, and is there any crossover? Don't trust what the Government tells you.

" Not sure why you say "obviously" as that would be illegal. Tencent may own the company but ownership is irrelevant in terms of the laws a company has to follow. GGG is is still a New Zealand company (legal entity), not a Chinese company. GGG has to follow New Zealand law first and foremost and then the laws of each jurisdiction they operate in (mostly the US due to data servers then EU due to consumer protections there) It would be illegal for GGG to share user data with Tencent without prior notice (the data consent you gave GGG is not automatically transferable up an ownership tree). Chris also posted further up the page the companies that have authorisation. |

" Again Chris posted 3rd parties. Tencent isnt a 3rd party. As far as the rest, to be fair, I'm not an international business lawyer. Maybe you are idk (doubtful) You are making some significant declarations that I'm not sure are 100% accurate, but whatever, I'm not in a position to be able to fully dispute what you are saying, because, again, I dont know. It's my limitied understanding Tencent could fire everyone, move the company, cease operation, sell it, any number of things. So given that, yes, in my opinion, I think Tencent 100% has access to all GGG financials, operation details, and customer data. Are they allowed to share this data with their Chinese partners without our knowledge legally? I don't know. Is GGG still a New Zealand company? Or are they now a Chinese company operating in New Zealand? Are GGG customers protected by the laws of their specific country, or the country where the company operates, or the country where the owner is? (What about Garena?) To remove the political China aspect, I find it hard to believe Microsoft, for example, has no customer related data for its international customers outside the United States from companies that they own. Maybe I'm wrong. In this case, being wrong is probably better from a consumer protection standpoint. I hope you are right actually, but I have my doubts. :/ "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." - Abraham Lincoln Last edited by DarthSki44#6905 on Sep 30, 2020, 10:06:48 AM

Dear Tencent & GGG,
If it helps to know, I have big feet. Thank you. |

" Tencent IS 3rd party. Doesnt matter that they own GGG. There is whole bunch of international laws in place for that. They have the ability but they cant use it if that makes sense. But its the same with Google, Fecabook, Apple, Samsung etc. They all could share your info but its illegal. |

Wonder if it stretches the word "share" since Tencent owns the company.
