Making PoE Single Player.

This is just a thought and further insight, suggestions, advice, etc etc are welcome.

I know this likely won't happen, but it's more so something to consider.

Why not make a single player only version of PoE then sell it for $5-$10?

The differences would simply be that the single player version has increased item drops (specifically currency) so that players can sustain everything, particularly maps (high end maps take a LOOOT of currency). The single player version would get every patch and update that the multiplayer version does as well, sans multiplayer specific ones (i.e. ability gems).

One other difference could be that NPC's could be added to the game for players to trade and party with (gear, not currency). Think of Dark Souls, for example, in the sense of summoning NPC's to help fight with you.

Now, I see at least one obvious problem with this. Which is that it will drive people away form the Online Multiplayer version that it is now.

However, this would be more so for people who don't deal with parties and play the game Solo as is. There are quite a few of them out there.

Another problem might be that this would cut off revenue for GGG, but that's why I say to sell it for $5-$10. This way GGG gets something for it, since the players who buy it will likely never buy something from the microtransaction shop (since they play solo and all those have to do with showing off, sans the stash tabs).

The benefits of this are the following:

Less server load (which means less desync).
Some players get what they want, since they don't like the loot system and won't party anyway but still want to play the game.
GGG gets revenue from people who wouldn't likely buy anything anyway (as I mentioned above)
The players who leave to play the Single Player version won't complain as much on the forums about the game not being made for them.

I can't think of much else, but less desync and more revenue should be enough of a benefit imo.

Obviously this is something that would come along near Full Release time, and not now or in the near future. Just thought it was worth bringing up for GGG to consider.

They have stated they in no way want their server code available to be tampered with which would be required to run in a single player/local mode. So yea, it will not happen.
