Projectile?
Can someone explain to me briefly what is a projectile and what skill do produce projectiles? Thanks in advance. I got a choice of choosing fork and faster projectiles and I am not sure which to choose.

Everything is a projectile where a point travels from A to B. So for example bow skill (poison, fire arrow, ice shot), or most spells (freezing pulse, ice spear, fireball) or wand attacks (frenzy in wand, power siphon).
Nova's are no projectiles since it is not "a point" that is travelling. Last edited by deathmongoose#0880 on Mar 27, 2013, 10:09:18 AM

The skill itself has a built in +x% projectile damage. So yes. |

" Does physical attacks such as split arrow counts as a projectile? So only Nova spell is not a projectile? Thanks for the info man :) |

Yes, Split arrow is a projectile as well.
Shock and Ice Nova, Cold Snap, Firestorm for example are not projectiles. Use following logic: When any skill leaves your character (point A) and moves to any other point (B) than it is a projectile. Doesn't matter what graphical affect it has. Novas are no points, they are a circle expanding, therefore not projectiles. Cold Snap or Firestrom just appears on the screen, they don't leave your character, therefor no projectiles. On the other hand Lightning Strikes 3 lightnings leave your character and move to a point, so those are projectiles! |

Attacks with bows and wands are always projectiles, and in wiki at least any other projectile skills are tagged as such. Reading descriptions also helps since both lightning strike and poison arrow for example deal both projectile and non-projectile damage.

By the way, I just got a gem called 'lesser multiple projectile.' It adds another 2 projectiles. But how do that effect actually works? Like if I'm using freezing pulse, it only fires 1 projectile. And split arrow only shoot out 4 arrows(because of gem level) Please advice.

For Freezing pulse:
You get 2 additional projectiles, but it is possible to cast Freezing Pulse in a way that these overlap. This is by the way one of the strongest skill combos in the game. If I remember right each projectile does 40% of the original damage, so if they overlap you will hit for 120% of the original damage gaining a 20% dmg boost. I might be wrong here. For Split arrow or Ethereal Knives: You just get 2 additional projectiles. So Ek would fire 12 instead of 10 projectiles. This is a loss of dmg. You shoudldn't add LMP to skills that already fire more than 1 projectile. |
