Found a way to not lose items in Heists (Maybe a bug?)

Tldr: Once you have all your items except the mark/target, go to the escape area. Once you get out of the "danger" area (sorry, not sure what its called. The place where there are guards) all your well earned items will no longer be considered as stolen.

Don't drop them though.

Now you can go back and have your attempt at getting the target. If you die once the escape is happening, you will only lose the "target item" and not your other loot since they aren't marked as stolen anymore.

I'm not sure if someone else already posted about this or if its a widely known fact already; but I'm just posting for the people who may not know yet---

And in the case this is a bug and GGG fixes it--- I'm sorry to everyone for opening this topic xD

Seems like a lot of trouble to go to.
I posted this yesterday. Doesn't seem like a bug to me!
silly softcore tactics heh
didn't know it, and I appreciate it :)
no third challenge reward since beta lmao
It's useful when you get an ex+ otherwise its a tip to waste 3 minutes of gameplay.

Depends on what you're carrying.
The new "Killing guards do not raise alert" already makes me backtrack in order to open all the chests once I've cleared the way to the Curio and find myself with enough Alert Level left for open a bit more chests. If I can salvage my loot by further backtracking to the escape point, that's little hassle for a good feedback. If any, it helps while I am still understanding the league... not to mention salvaging lucky drops like a 5L6S Iron Commander.

Unfortunately, I also find it convenient, so I won't be too surprised if GGG will counter this tactic by making the escape area unavailable once you enter in the Heist area (like they do with boss arenas).

Thank you for sharing, though.
Pretty sure it is not their design, but useful information anyway!
Second-class poe gamer
unfortunately, it still can't save your rewards on the grand heist crashes when you run back with obtained valuable item
PoE nowadays looks more and more like a fan-made fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players.
