You do not "sell your Alterations to the NPC" though... instead you buy the Fusing from the NPC for the price of Jewelers orbs, and the Jewelers orbs can be bought with alterations... so you trade up

I thought IIQ didn't affect orb drop rates.

I'm inclined to agree with your observations OP. I've only ever found 2 GCP's since I started playing and both those drops occurred when I was playing new characters I was trying out.

The observations hold in practice, in my experience. Only things it's not taking into account is speed/safety of killing things (which can more that get over the loss in drops) and the fact you can't get the really nice stuff without maps or Dock runs.

Thus, I prefer the IIQ/IIR method.

In theory it does not.

In practice, as you get more drops, you have a chance of getting more orbs.

Particularly below average. I haven't had a run quite this bad in a while now.

So in summation, I might have made about 2 chaos equivalent in total at most.

using this as a beginning sample, I would ask those who wish to try this method to not be concerned if this happens to you. Sometimes you get particularly bad runs like this.

But this won't hold a candle to docks or fellshrine farming for those who have high level characters.

I have strictly separated these drops from my main orb page to ensure that the data hasn't gotten corrupted.
