Ran across this thread a couple weeks back & was intrigued, decided to commit to building up gear to do these runs in order to help twink my 'permanent' toons. Thanks to the OP & all the constructive posts, I've read them all and appreciate the input.
I use a cleave/dual-strike duelist to run from start to Fellshrine. Goal to is hit Fellshrine at lvl 16 and grind (sometimes pubs) to lvl26, that's my cut-off. I know I'm incurring a penalty by being over-lvled for the area, but I figure since I spend some time getting there, and my IQI is the highest at that point, why not hang around for a bit. Then I 'Children of the Corn' him & start over. The first few runs I used the spoils to trade for better low-lvl +IQI% gear. It was a bit slow but picked up quickly. Currently, once I hit lvl16 I'm at 62%IQI ... at lvl18 I have a helm that gets me to 70%. Gear:

Various weapons/armor while leveling, such as redbeak to start etc. Facerolling pretty much Todays run to lvl26: Slowly working on upping IQI%, but at this point it costs more than it's worth. I think the results above are very telling for a couple hours of 'race practice' ... thank you OP, for sharing your low-lvl orb-farming strategy 8) edit: I'm also trolling the vendor for chroms & collect =>13% quality crap to vendor up to Whets & Scraps ... any Sup flasks get snagged for baubles. Blues are IDed for Alts, sometimes sell Trans if I'm running low on wisdoms. Also, no quality gems this run, but they do appear once in a while. BLAMT! Next runs results. I lied about upping the IQI, I caved & procured a 12% Perandus ... 75%IQI at lvl18 on Fellshrine runs ... gcp droped in Twilight (barrel) & in prison somewhere ...

First run this patch to lvl20: IIQ 30%, IIR 24%
Not having Sadima's sucks, really need to fix that. Also noticed a ton of skill gem drops more than usual, but none were quality. |

Tried this a few times today after work, not the best results so far, gear isnt the best though. Any tips for classes to run this the fastest? was running a poison arrow ranger but it seems a double redbeak shadow would be the fastest? And i will post results on all my runs tomorrow along with current gear/iiq/iir.

I was just wondering... If you run merci on a 68 lvl char (or above; doesn't matter as this is the cut off point for penalty calculation) you get a penalty of 15% for Docks or 12.5% for Lunaris lvl 2 (the second one got a unique boss). Even with my 'survival' gear (i.e. not IIRQ) I can mitigate the quantity penalty and get 30% rarity. Although in my set up I'm far (50%?) behind with quantity from what you would have on a lowlvl run with good 'MF' gear, the speed of clearing at higher level and the mob density at the docks or lunaris temple lvl 2 is far greater than most places in normal difficulty. These also translate indirectly into better quantity (i.e. killing more mobs quicker), no to mention that you have higher chances of finding better uniques. Hmm... I'll do some test of my own, but my gut feeling is that (IF orb-dropping are the same at each difficulty) grinding high level areas with overlevelled char might be better. " the penalties you posted are wrong. it's 10% for docks and 7.5% for lunaris 2. Which would make lunaris 3, 5% and killing rares and uniques there have no penalty since they are considered 66. |

How long do those runs take? 1-2h?
Just for comparison I've ran my high lvl non-MF gear dude on the merciless docks and lunaris lvl 2 for 2 hours each. My gear has only 8% quantity and 35% rarity. EDIT: my build and gear My impression is that the high density of mobs at merci make up for the lack of MF gear. The approach you list here is good if you struggle with your main build. But if you have a build capable of going through act 3 merci and just need more currency than I would advise sticking to docks or lvl 2 lunaris even when you don't have the gear, because you get similar amount of orbs, chance of getting maps and higher level rares and more exp for your build. Btw. my first exalt, yay! Docks (-10% lvl penalty to quantity)
