Cremation not only visuals bugged
Not only the visuals of cremation are bugged, sometimes my cremation also randomly deals no damage until I recast it a fe times.

I have this same issue, looks like a bug people have been experiencing for a while now, some additional sources:

This issue makes the skill feel really bad to play. Also have same issues with the cremation skill, sometimes it doesnt deal damage at allsometimes deals damage but doesnt have any visual appearence and it seems to have some visual bug with how many projectiles fired visually...

After further testing I think I've found out how to reliably reproduce the issue.
- Cast desecrate - Tap the cremation button while desecrate is casting so that it starts casting as soon as possible - 90% of the time, cremation will deal no damage If you wait a second before casting cremation, it will deal damage 100% of the time. This leads me to believe cremation is targeting corpses that haven't actually been spawned serverside yet. It plays the animation since predictive mode is supposed to feel responsive, but since there's no corpse, it has no effect. I was able to find one other post that mentions something similar happening for volatile dead. After reading that post, I tested self-cast bone offering since it also consumes corpses and sure enough it will also fail to cast using the exact same method. It seems like this is more generally an issue with consuming spawned corpses on predictive mode. To be clear, this is not an issue on lockstep, and it does feel like lockstep prevents you from casting cremation as early. I'm not playing with some ridiculous amount of latency either, this issue occurs on a relatively stable ~60ms. I just prefer playing predictive because the whole game feels way more responsive.
