This Characters Name has Expired
I had this happen with a ton of my accounts,
![]() ![]() ![]() All of these are important to me for a variety of reasons, Bladed was my death knight I'd conquer battlegrounds with in WOTLK. Fae is the name of my childhood cat. I know for a fact I signed into at least the bottom two accounts in the last year, and I'm almost certain I'd signed into Bladed the last time I signed in to do a trade in standard HC. I had no idea that this was going to happen. I was unable to play for quite some time due to my graphics card and only just now was able to sign in and actually play and was greeted with this. I can't be the only one who has sentimentality attached to names and now I both can't have these names nor can I bring myself to delete them off my character list so they're essentially taking up name slots. If this is going to be a regular thing, can I at least have a warning before you get rid of my name to my email this account is linked to? " I lost the name pretty much everyone here knows me as. Honestly, I was more amused than annoyed -- and I confirmed it's someone who knows me, not some random coincidence. In the end, though, it's just a screen-name. I'm sure whoever has it (and whoever has yours) isn't going out of their way to ruin it or besmirch its former owner. We own nothing on here -- not our names, not the microtransactions we rent indefinitely, nothing. It is only by the grace of the server's continuing service that you can access any of it. Once that's gone, it's all gone. That's definitely not 'ownership'. But I agree some sort of warning about name expiry would be nice. A lot of things about PoE would be nice though. The trick is convincing TencentGGG that it wouldn't just be nice, it'd also be worth their time and effort. Good luck with that. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.
I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. |

" Maybe it'd be like an unobtrusive "please come back and play" that most people would appreciate receiving in the mail as opposed to an actual 'please come back and play' email, haha. |
