*FIXED BUT NOT TECHNICALLY SOLVED* POE WON'T OPEN
Also, I had a friend send me his client.exe file and packcheck file so that I could try and boot the client or check for pack but they won't open either. It seems that anything rooted to path of exile will not open.

I had the same issue. I searched the forum and found this old post. It worked for me by following the solution

Make sure you don't have any of the shortcuts or exe's for the game set to run as administrator

I have reset my pc and did the reinstall of windows 10 where it keeps my personal files and deltes all apps and programs. Yes this sucks because I have to reinstall every app I used to have, but it worked. First thing I installed was google chrome and then I installed path and it worked. I know most of you don't want to do this but it worked for me. This fixed it, but I have no clue what the real source of the problem was, good luck everyone.

I solved my poe problem by download and re-install graphic card driver manually. Let you know my case and hope can help those who still can't play poe but don't want to re-install OS.
My OS is Windows 8.1 64 bits and graphic card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M. I updated graphic card driver from GeForce Experience yesterday. Then I was off from poe until today. I had played heist league for couple of hours the day before yesterday and there's no problem. Today I open poe and got "pathofexile_x64.exe has stopped working" error message before showing login screen. After re-update my graphic card driver from GeForce Experience and re-install poe, I got no good luck. I don't want to re-install OS. So I decide to download graphic card driver from nvidia's official homepage, then install by myself. BINGO!! Problem solved. |

Ok so after scouring the Forum's, I found something about messing around with the set launch options on steam for path. right click it in the library, properties, hit set launch options and after trying all of the options, -ns WORKED it disables the sound driver's but i got the game to load without any problems.. except no sound so maybe its a sound driver issue? it worked for me hopefully it may for the next person.
