Bane and Impending Doom

Bane itself won't have Doom ticking, but this is speculation. Atm Bane has a curse tag but I doubt it will get the necessary hex tag to be useable with doom (but I'd be happy to be wrong here).

All that being said, some Doom+Bane-builds might work, but they can not use it in the same link. Maybe it's somehow effective to cast several doom-curses and then replace them all at once with bane+curses to trigger all explosions. Sounds unlikely though.

In the first place, Bane is a curse skill, but not a curse, so obviously Bane itself would not have the hex tag or benefit from the doom mechanic itself; the point in question is whether the support gem will still apply to its linked curses even though they are technically not being cast manually, and as jbabel1012 has quoted, that is unlikely.

The bold text above is wrong. Bane will change its tag from curse to hex.

Patchnotes of Heist says:
"Hexes apply a curse in an area and, when manually cast, apply an amount of Doom per second to cursed enemies up to a maximum. Doom increases the effect of the afflicted curse and stacks additively with modifiers to increased Curse effect."

(so:
-Bane is a hex wbich you cast manually -> check
-> it is the only requirement, so Bane will apply Doom and therefore works with Impending Doom)

and further:
"Added a new Intelligence Support Gem - Impending Doom Support: Causes supported Hex skills to trigger Doom Blast when they are removed or expire. Doom Blast deals chaos damage in an area based on the amount of Doom the Hex had when it was removed or expired. Cannot support Triggered or Aura hexes."

So we can be sure (imo): Bane is a hex. Impending Doom will work, because Bane can and will expire on enemies.

The Wiki says:
"Triggering: Curse skill gems linked with Bane are not directly usable (like other triggering methods). Triggering Bane however will not trigger any linked curses, since any skill linked with multiple triggers are disabled. Instead the curse skill will trigger alone in sequence as you would expect when linking multiple skills to a single trigger."

no, impending doom/doom mechanics will not work with bane. you are misunderstanding what the wiki says. the 2nd part of your quote is about the behaviour of triggering bane (which is a trigger by itself).

It will. Where do you know it won't?, of what reason?
Even without the trigfering mechanic you mentioned all criterias for applying doom are up. No?

PS: edited my last post to clarify with less words why doom should work with Bane.

Patch notes list "Curses applied by casting this spell now gain 10 Doom per second" as a change for all hexes. Bane wont have that(as its not a hex) and the triggered curces wont benefit from it as your not casting them.

Sound reasoning, this seems to be THE answer.

On a side note: You actually can get Doom on Bane with the new Malicious Intent Notable which says "Hexes you inflict have +4 Doom". It's not much but it's interesting that it's possible at all :)

The bold text is wrong. Bane IS a hex now. And witj it, you or bane apply curses. Thats why im not convinced, that Doom wont work for it.

But due to the fact, that patchnotes listed the doom gain for every casted curse listed.. It can really be the truth. Sadly. Hope dies last
