Crafting Advice needed for Culling Strike Gloves

Hello everyone

I was lucky enough to obtain this perfect combo of affixes on my Drox gloves:

(just in case the picture doesn't work/someone can't see it: 86 life / Culling Strike)

Which route would you suggest to complete them?

What I would like to see of them (in order of priority):

- second life prefix
- increased attack speed
- chaos resistance (or at least an elemental resistance) would be nice
- maybe added flat physical damage. The gloves will be given to my Standard Cyclone Raider, as soon as the league ends.
- maybe more defense

Go the multi-mod-way and add
- multi-mod
- attack speed
- defense ?

Pro: This way all suffixes would be blocked and if I add another life affix, using Harvest, the game can't give me life regeneration suffix.

Contra: No chance to get any resistances, since all suffixes are blocked. One "useless" affix (multi-mod)

Do it completely in Harvest?

Contra: I have only one "add speed" crafting option. Not sure if I want to use it for this item.

Right now, I could add one more affix by just using the crafting bench. I guess that's because the rare item has only 2 affixes?

PS: I always play SSF style. No trading. So I only can use crafting options etc. I actually find myself.

what i would do given your wishes:

- aug chaos to get chaosres (can change that later to ele)
- benchcraft attackspeed (all suffixes blocked then)
- aug life (can remove lifeleech with attack (remove asp first) or phys to not hit t1 life. if you hit low tier life/eva hybrid remove with defence)
- aug phys to get physdmg

you can hit it with your aug speed as well, but i wouldnt bother tbh. 12% is nice, and if you hit low tier youll have trouble rerolling that in ssf prolly.

It is worth noting that you can add crafted mods and then use remove / add Harvest crafts in order to replace them with the actual versions rather than requiring an augment craft.

This does not work for life of course, because you want to roll more than one life mod and do not want to remove the other, but it works for chaos (or any elemental resistance you might prefer), speed, and physical mods.

So you do not actually need a speed augment if you have remove speed / add speed crafts.

If you do run out of life augments, you can instead craft a defence mod and start using remove / add defence. It has a worse chance of hitting evasion / life than augmenting life (1/18 instead of 1/3), but instead of augmenting life and removing defence / physical / attack (depending on which it is), you can just use remove / add, which is a lot more common.

Overall your goals seem very achievable through Harvest and I see no reason to deliberately make the item worse by multimodding it.

Since he prefer not to use his "Speed" seeds, correct me if I'm wrong or there are better steps..

- Bench add Inc Eva Rating - this blocks the most common "Defense" prefix.UPDATE: This can't be done without multi-mods... So I would just harvest add another "Defense" here, i.e. basically duplicating the step #3 below. As usual, if we hit T1 Eva/Life here already, then no need to repeat this step but harvest add "Caster" instead. We save the bench craft for Accuracy Rating which is the next step.

- Bench add Accuracy Rating - this blocks the most common "Attack" suffix.

- Harvest add "Defense".
Whether obtained T1 Eva/Life or not, we primarily wanna make prefixes full so just proceed to next step.

- Harvest add "Attack".
If not get T1 Attack Speed, harvest remove "Attack".
If Accuracy Rating was removed instead, harvest remove "Attack" once more so we have no more suffixes EXCEPT THE SUPER RARE CULL. Bench add Accuracy Rating and repeat from beginning of this step until T1 Att Speed is obtained.

- Bench remove Accuracy Rating

- Harvest add "Chaos" - guaranteed Chaos res. Add/remove until satisfied with the tier. Now all affixes are full.

- If already have T1 Eva/Life from previous steps, harvest remove "Caster", and SKIP NEXT STEP TOO. Else, harvest remove "Defense".

- Bench add Phys Att Life Leech. Remember that our suffixes are full, so this blocks all "Life" mods except Eva/Life hybrid. Harvest add "Life". If not get T1 (1/2 chance), harvest remove "Defense" (DON'T HARVEST REMOVE "LIFE"!), and harvest add "Life" again until successful.

- Harvest add/remove "Phys". This should remove the bench-added Phys Att Life Leech and then we have 1/6 chance for it to be replaced by T1 Phys Damage in return (or 4/6 chance to get Phys Damage of any tier).

Kind of admire always seeing people coming up with these ideas ( like combining the existing craft options bench vs harvest and all with suffix blocking and stuff ).

Playing for 4 years now, quite a lot, but crafting nevertheless stays a black box, primarily due to the number of different ways one can go.

And this is not even the most complex craft.
If i get a 1:1 howto i can follow the steps, but thats it.

Sad... but okay, i have to live with it - just my 2 cents, gl with crafting the gloves :)

Thank you very, very much, Clownkrieger, DER_PSYCHOPATH, Gulch, jeerinho and bex_HB!

I am truly touched by the help I received. You are geniuses, exiles. I am very glad that I posted this question and that you were willing to give me your time and share your experiences, knowledge and creativity with me.

Now I will go on collecting harvest crafting recipes. I'm still missing the add chaos affix. In the first weeks of harvest I was drowning in it, whereas now I haven't seen a single one in almost two weeks. Well, trying not to get nervous. If I shouldn't find one till the end of the league I'll just add some elemental resistance instead. I'll love the gloves anyway.

@jeerinho: Can I add two affixes using the crafting-bench, because the item only has two affixes? Or would I have to temporariliy use the multi-mod to do it the way you suggested it?

Actually I never crafted these things myself hence the BIG DISCLAIMER.
I only grew interested after watching the video from mbExtreme, and was pretty late to realize that most of the stuff can be done with T1 seeds, and the fact that Tailwind is a definitive crit (T2 seed) affix for Hunter boots.

I misinterpreted that as you claiming you could add two affixes WITHOUT MULTI-MOD. What was I thinking... since when PoE allowed two bench crafts without multi-mods...

Anyway I would edit the instruction to just 'Harvest add two "Defense" mods', as you are guaranteed to get two prefixes this way. We save the bench craft for adding the Accuracy Rating suffix.

On a side note, I just bought a ilvl 86 Stygian Vise, and chaining some lvl 76 and above maps (since min requirement is -10 levels for seeds) to make something. However, I am quickly realizing that it is easier said than done... I'm not even trying to do something with influence mods, just something simple with, but it's already not looking like something that can be done in few hours...

Promised Tailwind on boots is really insane... I tried it just for the lolz and it hit Tailwind every time I tried it (unfortunately all the other affixes were crappy).
Seeds with criticals are also a good way to create Shaper-influenced rings with Assassin's mark on hit.

I experimented with my gloves and I realized that the crafting bench only allows one additional affix. But that's ok. Thanks to all the advices I got here I will be able to turn them into good gloves for my cyclone raider. I bet she can't wait for the league to end :D

Good luck with your Stygian Vise! We still have 3 or 4 weeks left to get all the crafting we want. Things aren't always as smooth as one would like to have it, but sooner or later the right seeds turn up.

To be honest, I never bothered with seeds above tier 2. Tier 1 and 2 were good enough for me. And time-consuming enough. It's a pitty that GGG won't implement Harvest into the main game. It was the first time I actually enjoying crafting in this game. And started to understand how to do it.

Good morning. I just wanted to let you know that the gloves are almost finished, thanks to your invaluable help:

I was lucky and had several good results on the first attempt: 12 % attack speed, tier 1 life/defense hybrid. Yay! \o/

The flat physical damage was also achieved on first attempt. Unfortunately, only tier 3, but I'll leave it as it is untill I have enough seeds to spam & pray.

Chaos resistance was quite a failure. And I totally ran out of chaos crafting options. But there are still about 3 weeks of the league left, so I hope that I will be able to obliterate this last flaw the item has.

Thanks again and have a pleasant Sunday!

Edit:

It just came to my mind... Drox gloves have some very interesting prefixes:

"
Req. Lv. 73 (27-30)% increased Melee Damage

So maybe I'll be better off using "replace attack with another attack" instead of "replace physical with another physical affix"?
