Elemental Weakness + (Spellslinger + Wave of Conviction) interaction
Hello all.
I don't know really if this is the place to ask this question but here it goes: My character has PSHaverstShit as IGN, you can take a look here, https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/Educmack/characters In my gear, I have Tombfist with Ele Weakness on hit corruption, while in my Piscator's I have Spellslinger + Wave of Conviction setup. Every time I hit an enemy with any hit, it will apply the curse and after that, if Wave of Conviction hits the enemy it should apply elemental exposure. I have a Power Siphon setup on my chest, most of my damage is Lightning and Cold, in this case, more Lightning than Cold. Some times when it hits the enemy it applies the curse and the Wave of Conviction hits too causing the enemy to be "Vulnerable to Fire" which in some cases troubles me with the single target damage. I assume this is due to the Wave of Conviction, but why the enemy is "Vulnerable to Fire" when I deal no fire damage at all? Shouldn't it be "Vulnerable to Cold" and "Vulnerable to Lightning" most specifically? It works like "Elemental Equilibrium" but take into account I avoid running maps with "Elemental Equilibrium" mod which f*cks up my damage. Last bumped on Aug 11, 2020, 4:44:20 PM

if a dude has 75 light res and 0 fire res (like a necromancer) and you lightning exposure + ele weakness, then they have -44 fire and 6 lightning resistance thus are "vulnerable to fire" and "resistant to lightning".
The vulnerable to "___" indicates they have less than 0 resists for that element, not necessarily what the exposure applied is. Also it seems like your wave should be mostly split fire/lightning as you don't have any other conversion and only like 1 node for generic lightning damage. You can expect it to be pretty 50/50 whenever you wave of conviction for exposure, or dependant on the monster type. if you can fit in a phy light it'd help but obviously it'd increase reservation so I doubt it's a choice. Wrath itself doesn't really scale the lightning dmg itself to be that reliable (maybe like 55/45) If O am not mistasken, flat damage from gear and stuff doesn't get added to spellslinger stuff so that if you were expecting lightning dmg on the wave that might be it. Another compromise is to use a low level wave of conviction and use abyssal jewel with flat lightning to spells (sort of sub optimal i know) Edit: didn't see your ring which adds flat lightning to spells! Just swapping in a level 1 wave of conviction will probably make your lightning exposure way more reliable I have had characters with 87.5% lightning 12.5% fire and when I wave of conviction into a monster it gets fire exposure lol Some monster have pretty nuts base single elemental resistances that is often ignored. " Really, thank you very much for the explanation. It really cleared up my thoughts. I realized before my problem could be because I had one of the abyss jewels with physical damage to attacks, then I changed it for another one that has cold damage to attacks + life + crit multi. But I saw Wave of Conviction was still able to apply fire exposure, making enemies "Vulnerable to Fire", maybe as you said keeping a low-level Wave of Conviction makes lightning exposure predominant over the fire exposure. I'll give it a try and see how it goes! |

Why not link a phys to lightning support to it? That should make the lightning component super dominant and you get to keep a lv20 version of it to do a bit more dps.

" As far as I know, if I link a Phys to Lightning support knowing I had Wave of Conviction with Spellslinger, I guess it will increase the mana reservation and I'll have problems with that. Unless I don't use Spellslinger at all and I self-cast Wave of Conviction. Spellslinger makes everything easier, though. Thoughts? Last edited by Educmack#7685 on Aug 11, 2020, 4:32:47 PM

Didn't notice that. I wouldn't do it imo. It's not that much more damage and not worth the mana hassle.
