" No it doesn't. It's notorious for being horribly optimized for a reason. No way you played last league on a HDD and didn't lag to hell. You shouldn't need a current year PC to play an isometric ARPG. I play MMOs and kill world bosses with more frames than a map with Delirium and spell mobs. It stopped being playable on HDD in around 2017. Was fine before then. Something they changed or did then made the load times a lot longer. Also from around then you couldn't even log in to the game without crashing once every single time because it took too long to load the town you were in. Seems like it partially loads and crashes once, then loads the rest after you log in again on the 2nd attempt.
I bought a SSD about a year ago just for POE. All other games still work fine on HDD. I haven't even bothered putting my operating system on the SSD yet as that is also fine with HDD. Last edited by SaiyanZ#3112 on Jul 20, 2020, 11:04:13 AM

The simple answer is yes. The correct answer is you should not.
SSD is 70$ and Cheaper. I have never seen one piece of the puzzle solve so many problems. It is a night and day change. You should get an SSD. Since Betrayal, I would never go back to HDD. I will wear your ghost and you will die twice, against me and for me.

It is, painfully, but it is. The great problem is not the fps, but the loading time of things they load on-the-fly, like Delirium and Syndicate monsters. It was worse, but they finally moved a lot of loading and processing to loading times before you open a map...
Still not enough. sometimes I clear half the map before I even see the mobs because textures and images didn't finish loading... And sometimes I die before I even see the background loading. But this is beating a dead horse. Soon enough the "just buy a SSD LOL!" mob will come in and trash your thread. IMHO GGG should develop thinking in the common scenario, wich is not having SSDs. Soon there will be the "buy wider screens!" mob too. #HDDLivesMatter "There's no thing like random one-shots in this game. You only die because you take 353,456,237 hits in 0.2 seconds."
