Is this game even PLAYABLE with an HDD ?

Title ^

After some research on FPS increase, I have come to the conclusion that POE is that extremely special snowflake that requires an SSD card to run.

Other games that I keep on my HDD run just fine:
GTA 5, Witcher 3, Subnautica, World of Wracraft, Overwatch, Diabloe 3, and many many more.

Can anyone PLEASE give me their tips on increasing FPS for an HDD? I've even disabled sound and music cause apparently that's a 40-50% increase in FPS and which to my surprise it is, helped me get 10+ fps.

Why is game so BADLY optimized after so many years?

I'm already paying for convenience aka Stashes, do I really need to buy an SSD for POE to run properly?

Not only do I have to deal with this, but other problems such as Server lag, Server issues, Connection problems also come into mix. Lag spikes, My ping jumping from a nice 40ms to 500-1000 AND EVEN 5000+ on certain ocassions...

Every day I have to deal with this, constant lag spikes from your servers, from the poorly optimized game and so on. It pisses and turns me off so much from wanting to play your game. I want to, but not in these conditions... The number of deaths I've had due to lag are beyond countable at this point.

Do you think I'm made of money GGG?

Thats what happens when you want a game with as little limits a possible. Its not optimization problem. The game is just to big for its own good. Jonathan said in 1 beaclast that there are over 9000 (yeap he legit said it and it wasnt a joke) calculations for every single hit. With enough density any pc will choke.
Playable? Yes

Fun to do it? Not really.

I have a old plate hd on my machine and i lost the accounts of how many freeze deaths i got. So if you actually have the funds and just want to upgrade for PoE, then get an SSD.

It's incredibly dumb. I really don't wanna buy an SSD, the cheapest SSD card I can get in my country if I were to convert my currency, it would be 40-50 EUROS for a 120 GB.

I want to play the game without investing an SSD into it. I might as well give up on the game completely even with an SSD due to server lag / issues
The game plays just fine on HDD. An SSD affects load times and has very little effect on game play. With an HDD, launching the game is far slower. You might even get time-outs when loading your first character. But once it's loaded it runs fine. Entering each zone/map will also be slower with HDD. The load screen will last longer, then it can be slow to load assets once inside. So when entering a zone or map, use your immunity grace period to let assets load.

I played with HDD for over five years. When I switched to SDD it did not affect actual game play in any noticeable way.

I have two installations of POE, One Steam installed on HDD and the other on SSD. I can run both at once and compare them side by side. The one on HDD takes forever to load, but once loaded there is no noticeable difference between the two.

I play it on a HDD. And that's on a laptop. And not a gaming laptop. SSD would make my experience better yes, but currently it is certainly playable.

Computer games are a luxury good, as are SSD's. It is what it is.

Many of the other games on your list are singleplayer, this one happens to be online-only.

It sucks but at least you can fix the problem by buying an SSD, unlike WoW, which just sucks and you can't do anything about that.

It's like being mad that PoE isn't optimized for PCs from 1998 and can't be installed from a floppy disc.
Come on now xD

I use a hdd and I have a lv100 in ssfhc

It's not even that bad, you just need to log in and do a dry run in blood aquaducts to load all the assets before you do anything.
I use a ssd now but 2-3 months back where I had an HDD its just been longer loading screen time so this game is indeed playable with an HDD.
