General Discussion - The "presence of chayula" scam - Forum

Seriously can anything be done about this? I'm trying to buy this amulet but people keep putting "eye of chayula" in trade hoping for a scam. Every time i whisper someone and get invited by some unascendant witch it's like "here we go again". Can i report them in some way? is there any point to it? Hey, I fell for this very same scam. I contacted the GGG support team via email. I explained the situation and provided them with the offenders name as well as a screen shot of the trade listing. They replied to me the next moring with this response: " Hi there, Thanks for getting in touch with us! I'm sorry to hear this has happened to you. I apologise but it's our policy not to get involved in player item/service disputes, as we don't have the resources to fully investigate each one and police them. I've taken a note of the account in question, and will be flagging it to keep an eye on. When players report others for any kind of behaviour such as scamming, unfair trading, real money trading, abusing bugs and etc, this goes on their record. If they accumulate an extremely bad reputation then we will look at taking things further or finding other ways to resolve these issues. It quite frequently occurs that players who have bad reputations are often committing more serious and bannable offenses. We really appreciate these reports as they are extremely helpful to us in that it helps us to build a profile around players, and helps us towards making decisions about how to deal with these people in future. I understand why it might appear futile to report scammers to us, but it is in fact quite important and the more reports we get on a player means that we will have a more detailed case when investigating players, the more flexibility we would have when choosing to remove offending accounts. I would like to encourage you to keep sending reports to us. These do not go ignored or wasted. If you have any other questions please feel free to let us know. If GGG do not actively seek to remove these offenders, then that is disappointing. However, this is exactly why I think for PoE2 a fully integrated AH or MB be implemented. That would instantly stop any and all trade scams via sales. One quick fix could be for GGG to just remove the Eye of Chayula. Remember... they CAN'T kick you from their hideout. You can create a buyer account (like all the traders that use trade [illegal term for non-allowed function] - even if it's against the TOS they're out there by the thousands) when you're looking for items like this. Send your buyer alt to their HO and if they dump the 'Eye' instead of 'Presence' - immediately close the trade, block the player, and set up a repeating macro that says SCAMMER in local every 0.25s That'll pretty much put an end to their scamming until you log the alt account out. Patch Notes 3.15: Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive. Patch Notes 3.19: Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15.
