Why am I not able to use Desecrate and Bone Offering with Arcanist Brand?

Disclaimer: I am a new player.
Why am I not able to use Desecrate and Bone Offering? I'm following Enki's Witch guide and I added Arcanist Brand and Bone Offering to Desecrate and now I can't cast Desecrate. Is this intentional? Read what arcanist brand does. You cast it and it casts the spells linked to it

Does this mean to only use Arcanist Brand when going into Boss Fights? It seems to be that having the control to cast Desecrate alone would be much more useful than having a chance for it to trigger if this is as intended. |

Triggered spells always lock the self-application of the spell. If you want to be able to manually cast desecrate as well as triggered from Archanist Brand, then you will need to have 2 Desecrates socketed in your gear.
