Are chests > crates/barrels > boulders?

I know that the devs are unwilling to give out drop percentage numbers.

However, perhaps they would be willing to at least answer in terms of yes/no.

Do some lootable items have a better chance of dropping something than others?

If I had to guess, I'd guess something like:

Large chest > (any other) chest > crate > barrel > corpse > boulder.

In a very grind heavy game the death penalty equates to...more grinding.
To me it seems like

Big chest > chest > barrelcratecorpseboulder

I don't open anything but chests anymore - I never found anything of worth in it.
I've found divines and regals and lots of other orbs in barrels. It's definitely worth the time.

I've only found 1 GCP so far and it was from a breakable item like a crate. I break/open everything.

sry but the fact that you found a gcp in a barrel doesnt say its time effective to open them. couldve been only luck. i need more evidence before i start that boring barrelsmashing :-D

They usually drop white items that can roll 6 socket, 5L, or 6L. The roll for sockets/links happens after the item drops so for that imo it's worth the time.

I didn't say it was time effective. I just was demonstrating that they *may* have items of value in them and by choosing to skip them you're choosing to skip another roll of the RNG dice that may yield something good.

I mean, if they're waaaay in the corner and you're on some kind of speed run and are dropping orbs like candy already, I guess you can skip them. I'm just a hair OCD and can't leave a stone un-turned. :-P

found this under a boulder yesterday.

and have generally found more decent orbs and GCP's from breakables than i've ever found from monsters. YMMV
For me, it appears that boulders are the best; I don't even bother with crates/barrels, due to my lack of barrel smashing capabilities :3.

I only bother to break breakables when I have an easy AoE attack and there are several together.

I.e. Rain of Arrows on a group of 5 barrels in Lower/Upper Prison.
