A beta is a beta. It is by definition not a finished product, nor does it technically represent the final product in any way. But perhaps most importantly, the beta is not a demo. It is a tool for them to test their servers and the game, and people getting to check out the game is a nice side-effect of that.

Censored myself.

While I agree on your general assessment, I want to point out that this game will release in three weeks. Which means that the game is already produced (and likely in the process of shipping). And in this case, it's no longer really a beta as in "you cannot judge the final product by it because they might fix everything".

If the beta has performance issues (and it does), they will most likely not be fixed until release.

The situation reminds me a lot of the TOR beta. People there pointed out for a long time that the hero engine was underperforming and had a lot of issues. People claimed that since it was beta, they shouldn'T be too concerned. Bioware would fix it for release, how could they not?
They didn't. TOR was and still is plagued by severe performance and usability issues. They're fixing things, but it's slow and painful.

Gonna have to correct you there.
They have already stated the performance of the actual game is miles better, the beta just isn't updated with the performance fixes.

This is not something that holds water with me. While it might be true, people must assume it's untrue or only partially true until it's patched for real.

claims of fixes mean nothing, as they usually bring new problems of their own, or they simply don't fix things enough... very common.

Except for a game this big it kinda does.
It's nothing big anyway. It just stutters from time to time for no apparent reason.

Dumb use of words, lolz.

Well, I have to admit that my trust in anything Blizzard says is... minimal. They said too many things and too little of it came true in the end. We'll have to see if the changes are really there or if those words were only meant to placate.

I'm a big fan of waiting 2-3 post-release patches before making a real solid opinion about a game. 3 patches in they should have everything major hammered out, and the things that are outstanding at that point will more than likely remain as such for a good period of time, if not forever.

Heh, and now they're having server issues.

Honestly this game is NOT optimized for PC gaming. I understand it's an open beta, but there's a lot of performance issues. I can run both PoE and D3 on my laptop, but the performance at certain settings is not the same.

Comparing games like that is already pointless, but again, it's a beta. It's an old build performance wise.
