Leech duration?
So I guess leech duration is variable now? It used to be 5 seconds before one of the nerfs and bleeding is 5 seconds. Now I'm killing myself because bleeding lasts longer than leech. Which of the overly worded stats should I get or avoid to get my leech rate 3.75 seconds or longer assuming I can do full damage in one hit to cap the per-hit maximum?
Edit: So it looks like Vaal Pact and Martial Experience both cut the amount of time I am leeching in half each. This effectively makes slayer only work for 1.25 seconds after not doing damage? WTF that's so bad... I can't really justify not taking Vaal Pact and Martial Experience is a very strong node to have to skip... Also: The only stat in the game that can increase leech duration we have 0 sources of in the game.... When you leech, #% of damage dealt heals you at a rate of 2% per second up to 5 seconds. You can leach a total of 20% life per second. All leech will instantly stop if you reach max life. Other forms of leech function the same way in their respective areas.
Total Recovery per Second from Life Leech - Increases the 2%. This means fewer hits needed in order to reach 20%. Maximum Total Recovery from Life Leech - Increases the 20%. This means more hits required to cap, but the cap is higher. #% Damage Leeched as Life - increases the #%. This means less damage needed in order to get the full 5s duration of leech. For example, Vall Pact changes the base leech to - 4% life per second for up to 5s per instance - 40% maximum life per second If you add in Martial Experience you get - 8% life per second for up to 5s per instance (requires half as many hits in order to reduce the cap). - 40% maximum life per second There is nothing I know of in the game that increases or reduces the 5 second duration. You already know about how Slayer affects leech. The only limiting factor is if the #% damage leeched is not sufficient to heal at the rate of life leeched for 5 seconds. If you leech a total of 1000 life from a hit at 8% but only have 5,000 life, then you leech 400 life per second for 2.5 seconds. Increasing the total to 2000 life leeched, reducing the leech per second to 4%, or reducing your hp to 2,500 would all net the full 5s leech duration. Edit: All instances are saved but there is a cap on how many are in effect. That way if one instance expires but you hit .5 seconds ago, then that previous leech will start healing for the next 4.5 seconds. Last edited by Aldonés#1294 on Jun 25, 2020, 3:08:35 PM

" This is outdated information and applies to pre 3.6 patch. Currently this is not true as every hit is capped to heal no more than 10% of your total life no matter what by default and there is no way to increase this value in the game. This means that anything that increases the rate you leech at (the 2%) also decreases the length of that leech proportionally. Last edited by DemigodParadox#0524 on Jun 25, 2020, 3:49:23 PM

" You are misunderstanding me. If you hit (1 instance) for 100,000 damage and leech .5%, then your instance has a maximum leech amount of 500 life. If your life pool is 8,000, then every instance of leech will always heal for 160 life per second. That means your leech duration would be 3.125 seconds. If you dealt 100,000 damage but instead leeched 1% with 8,000 life, you would have a maximum leech amount of 1,000 life. However, since there is a 5 second cap, you would get 160 life for 5 seconds. You only received 800 healing; the unused 200 is discarded. Pre 3.6 it would not be, so a Slayer could get leech duration lasting in the minutes. |

" This is correct if you have 0 sources of "Total Recovery per second from life leech" If you have any sources of this stat, the maximum duration of the leech is less than 5 seconds. For instance, Vaal Pact reduces the length of your leech duration to a maximum of 2.5 seconds. This makes Vaal Pact fundamentally incompatible with overleech reflected bleed immunity because bleeding will always last longer than you can leech for. |
