Vulkan Crash, Unable to Start POE, Black Screen
Hi, can someone help, I have tried to switch the Vulkan twice and it always freezes, so i had to restart PC each time. After the third restart whenever i try to start POE all i get is a black screen, all I can hear the gears spinning when the game starts. All my other apps work perfectly fine, and i can bring up web pages while having the black screen from POE and use them fine. Its only when i try to start POE that is when my screen goes black. someone plz help, cannot figure out why this is happening only to POE. I've tried to update my PC and still doesn't work. I've also seen other forums of people uninstalling the game and reinstalling it but didnt work. GGG plz help
Graphics card - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 Resolved!!!! Went to files This PC > Windows (C:) > User > Owner > Documents > My Games > Path of Exile > Open file (production_Config.ini) > Edit (renderer_type=Vulkan) to (renderer_type=Directx11) > File Save Finally close window and start game, this method allows you to change renderer type from desktop menu without having to do it in game Took a whole day for me to figure out how to solve this problem. Hope it helps you too :) Last edited by Kidmonkey#2484 on Jun 24, 2020, 3:10:20 AM Last bumped on Jun 24, 2020, 12:43:10 PM

" personl advice. 1. Don't try Vulkan . It is unstable beta 2. If you want to try it. Update display card driver 3. You can edit game setting via "C:\Users\[your username]\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile", there is a file production_Config.ini. google how to switch to Vulkan via edit the ini 4. Delete shadercache if you used Vulkan before in 3.10 This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee. About the username: Did you know Kowloon Gundam is made in Neo Hong Kong?

I honestly do not think i was even able to successfully switch over to Vulkan, the first attempt the game froze before i could ever save the settings, the same happened the second time, so i have never successfully saved the my POE setting to Vulkan. Also just checked and my drivers are up to date

you should list the model of your graphic card to warn other people that , the model is too old and probably unsupported by Vulkan

ALSO as a note if you search and do not find renderer_type then you want to type that in manually under the display section. it will help confused players
