Positioning Skills and lack of Blink

I think that non-spammable skills that can block the path of heroes and mobs will make the game more interesting. Like Bone Wall in D2 or fissure in DotA.

I think that to make group combat interesting, positioning should be important. By having such a skill you would be able to help your own positioning, but also disrupt your enemy's positioning.

This skill would also be useful in PvE allowing you to protect your casters from getting too mobbed.

I also believe that a blink skill if included should be limited. I tihnk that it makes it too easy to escape mobs and PvP can become too centred around it.

I'd like to hear people's opinions on these.

In my opinion "escape or mobility"-skills are important to hardcore-characters.

Something you can get away with.
Teleport, jump, summon minions.

Well in PoE you have limited spells
Q, W, E, R, T. And the three other spells.

So you have to sacrifies one for that - but I think its worth it.
The fact they are important to hardcore is why I am not keen on them. When I play hardcore d2 I don't use blink, it makes it too easy to escape. I think if you don't have such easy escape skills you have to plan your game more.
I didn't really like bone wall or bone prison because it wasn't a great escape device and was difficult to use. I'd prefer something like pharaoh's wall of mummies from HoN, because the mechanics allow you to wall yourself off and be able to escape rather easily.

I disagree with the idea that by 'planning' you should be able to avoid scenarios where you would die/potion dump without the use of a skill like this. Personally I'd like to see more challenges that require intelligent use of abilities rather than just kiting to win.

There already is a blink move in the game I don't see why we can't have more. And there is no way to predict everything that comes at you, most of the enemies in dungeons come around dark corners and you ambushed often. A quick escape is sometimes needed because you can't do anything to prevent an ambush that would result in your death.

but kitting is part of the strategy game too ;p be it in a fast movement or slower.

a possibility is conditional teleport/movement like:
charge/jump/teleport to enemy
Blink with no cd means that to escape you just need a minimum mana and hp limit, then you just blink back to areas you have killed the creeps in. Fighting against walls is even better, because they are then only a problem for the enemy.

Without blink or with handicaps to it you have to make sure you have an escape route, so you have to be careful where you chase to, or where you run.

If the game includes stun resistances etc then blink makes it ridiculously easy not to die.
I like the idea of having a summonable wall move. I always loved bone wall in Diablo 2.
